for the last few months @sbellem and I have been looking at what it would take to have hardware that is worthy of being the foundation of our systems What we found is surprisingly promising. The road is long but theres a lot to be excited about

We of crypto twitter have been yapping about intents for a while now so @gakonst and I wanted to write more than a 240 chars about the idea In particular, it felt important to lay out the *risks* to the eth community along with the sunshine and rainbows paradigm.xyz/2023/06/intents

The security of hardware we use to store our private keys, to run our validators and as the basis of TEEs is not really that secure. We have little way to know the hardware we use isn't actually working against us Our latest article shows it doesn't need to be this way 1/n

    1) TEEs are not secure enough for the most exciting use cases Right now, they're better than nothing, but if we want to build a house with TEEs in the foundation, there's a long way to go That's the topic of a blog series @sbellem @socrates1024 and I are starting (with friends)

One thing I think we get wrong in crypto is that we think of TEEs as a static menu - We have a few options and that's it. In reality its a technology that can be improved. We don't evaluate FHE based on the performance it can hit today but by where it can given additional

A new major attack of TEE blockchains just got published, and it’s bad. The attack lets anyone with physical access to a TEE node in a blockchain access all the encrypted data in it. The paper even includes 4 (!) proof of concepts attacks on existing mainnet chains. Anyone

The interface between a protocol and its users is at the core of MEV I did my best to aggregate all the useful info on PBS in one place, including a bunch of open questions relating both to mainnet and other chains/L2s Let me know what I missed

please comment with things I’ve missed Overview One of the big lessons of MEV over the last few years is that the interface between validators and market participants is crucial. PGA’s, failed...

Given all the attention TEEs have received over the last few days, I wrote a piece about a systematic mistake we're making A big part of the story of crypto is identifying the tools we need and then improving them by orders of magnitude (e.g. ZK and permissionless consensus) 👇
