- Just to be clear, @zksync attempting to trademark ZK is patently absurd. There is no possible excuse for trademarking a 2 letter math term. It's ludicrous.
- We have officially crossed the cost threshold for ZK proofs. Off-chain execution is now cheaper than on. Get ready for it to be mass adopted, skyrocketing scalability, and creating use cases we've only dreamed about. ZK is crypto's rocket fuel.
- TEE vs. ZK? ZK offers stronger security guarantees. TEEs rely on trust in the hardware manufacturer (like Intel), while ZK relies on math. More transparency and verifiability with ZK.
- This is a great and timely write-up. @RiscZero has a huge role to play in how this zk-enabled future unravels. I would like to point out, however, that the R0 team has already shipped a couple of features listed in the blog as ideas/todo - so maybe the endgame is closer thanPossible futures of the Ethereum protocol, part 4: The Verge vitalik.eth.limo/general/2024/1…

00:00 - We've had the ability to run arbitrarily large programs in ZK and verify on-chain for a quite a while now, but I still think how it works is cool.
- ZK adoption in traditional industries is closer than most people think. We're seeing fascinating use cases emerge, like age verification without storing personal data. However, first we have to explain ZK to a lot of non crypto people so... give us a minute.
- That was a fun read over the weekend! @VitalikButerin does a really good job penning down his thoughts - something I wish I had more time to do as well. My attention was definitely caught by the last section of the article titled ‘A more radical approach’.
