Just to be clear, @zksync attempting to trademark ZK is patently absurd. There is no possible excuse for trademarking a 2 letter math term. It's ludicrous.
We have officially crossed the cost threshold for ZK proofs.
Off-chain execution is now cheaper than on.
Get ready for it to be mass adopted, skyrocketing scalability, and creating use cases we've only dreamed about.
ZK is crypto's rocket fuel.
TEE vs. ZK?
ZK offers stronger security guarantees. TEEs rely on trust in the hardware manufacturer (like Intel), while ZK relies on math.
More transparency and verifiability with ZK.
This is a great and timely write-up. @RiscZero has a huge role to play in how this zk-enabled future unravels. I would like to point out, however, that the R0 team has already shipped a couple of features listed in the blog as ideas/todo - so maybe the endgame is closer than
Four years ago, when I co-founded @RiscZero, my vision was clear: make Zero Knowledge proofs accessible to everyone.
Since then we have come a long way, it’s incredible to see the technology we created being adopted by industry leaders in web3 across the spectrum of use cases -
My hot take for the week?
ZK could have stopped FTX from happening. The idea of using ZK to verify the correctness of centralized systems, something @hashflow is working on with us, could be a game changer for finance (and everything else).
In terms of the hype cycle, we're in the 'trough of disillusionment' phase with regards to ZK, due to poor performance and dev-ex of first gen ZK.
However, we're about to emerge on the other side and witness real mainstream adoption and growth.
ZK is about to eat everything.
I’m excited to share that I’ve stepped into the position as CEO of RISC Zero. Our success will continue to be defined by our technical excellence and ability to deliver cutting-edge, world-class technologies. I look forward to leading the company in this next phase.
Jeremy Bruestle (@BruestleJeremy), co-founder and Chief Cryptographer, is taking on the role of CEO of @RiscZero. His leadership and technical vision will continue to drive our ambitious plans to make zero knowledge universal.
We want to express our gratitude to Brian Retford
2024 goal:
Turn @RiscZero into a network and nail the economics of proof generation in a scalable, decentralized way.
This is just the beginning of what we will build.
The Future of Verifiable Computation Is Coming
We're launching R0 zkVM 1.0, the world's first production-ready general purpose zkVM, to enable a future where you can prove anything and verify everywhere.
A future where zero knowledge is universal.
ZK adoption in traditional industries is closer than most people think.
We're seeing fascinating use cases emerge, like age verification without storing personal data.
However, first we have to explain ZK to a lot of non crypto people so... give us a minute.
That was a fun read over the weekend! @VitalikButerin does a really good job penning down his thoughts - something I wish I had more time to do as well. My attention was definitely caught by the last section of the article titled ‘A more radical approach’.
