    It’s with heavy hearts that we confirm that we lost one of our own at DTE today. A line worker who was working to restore power in Detroit came in contact with a live wire and was fatally wounded. He was dedicated to doing his best to serve our customers, and to us he was a hero.

    COMMUNITY SAFETY NOTICE: Due to the high number of downed wires (close to 3,000) we are urging everyone to stay out of their yards at this time. Fallen trees and limbs can hide energized wires.

    Restoration Update: As of 5:30 a.m. DTE crews had restored power to over 330,000 customers affected by the ice storm. Over 4,000 line workers and support staff continue to restore power today. Please stay 25 feet away from any down wire and do not cross caution tape.

    We’re aware of reports that a person was killed by imposters presenting themselves as DTE employees. Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrific and tragic event, and we hope the perpetrators are quickly apprehended and brought to justice. (1/3)

    Restoration update: 160,000 DTE customers have been restored since the heavy ice storm rolled through Southern Michigan Wednesday and Thursday. Today crews are working to restore power to 200,000 more customers.

    Today, we announced with @Ford the largest #renewableenergy purchase through a utility in the country. Through #MIGreenPower, we will add 650 megawatts of new #solar for Ford, increasing the total amount of installed solar capacity in Michigan by 70%.
