Heartbreaking news for all who knew and loved Matt Dial, a former @Pacers photographer. He wanted to live long enough to see Pacers win first NBA title. He died early today, one day short, one day before Game 7. Dial was 48.

Steve Alford said tonight there was no way he could get through a phone call to talk about Bob Knight. Instead, he sent me an almost poetic text about the coach he called mentor, father figure, friend. ‘I'm a mess. I loved that man so much' indystar.com/story/sports/c… via @indystar

For months, I’ve kept silent as ⁦@dandakich⁩ rips on me as a journalist and my newspaper. Calling us liars. But today when he went on a rant about how i lied about him calling a kid a meth head (audio his station deleted) I had to pull out our audio.

The numbers are so staggering they don't seem real. But this? Caitlin Clark alone had a $36M economic impact on Indy. “Now let's take a breath for a minute and think about this," said Dr. Ryan Brewer. "That's for one year. We're talking about one player."

Earlier today, iHeartRadio reversed a firing of sports radio shows in Des Moines. Could Jake Query & Derek Schultz be next to get their show back? If the outpouring of support is enough, maybe, just maybe. There's a petition to sign. indystar.com/story/sports/2… via @indystar

Shortly after Emry started, head coach Leonard told him: "You know, you're not the coach." Emry's face fell then turned to shock as Leonard went on, "You're like the GM." "GM," Emry said, "a great man." Leonard knew this was going to be amazing. indystar.com/story/sports/c… @indystar

This is a heartwrenching story, the story of a burly linebacker who wrote poetry and, at the end, as he lay in bed, unable to move or speak wrote: "I wear my mask/ with un-beheld pride/ I wear my mask so the people/ Wonʼt see me cry." indystar.com/story/sports/h… via @indystar
