When I wrote 'I Find That Offensive!' few yrs ago, sketching out regressive trends associated w Identity Politics, statue toppling, 'You can't say that' culture, critics accused me of setting up straw men. In truth, I underestimated how toxic it'd become:

I rather lost my rag yesterday at a poorly attended short debate on rape gangs and an inquiry. The government wants to talk about child sex abuse per se, but the question is why state agencies and public servants looked the other way in terms of these specific, organised rape

Heartbreaking. It's always ordinary "working people" who pay the price for politicians' indifference to legitimate fears. FFS. Infuriating - makes me want to both scream & cry. RIP Wayne.

Wayne Broadhurst, 49, who died as a result of the knife attack in Uxbridge. A council binman and well-respected member of the local community. Tragic.

Have you read the Act Peter? I have, as I put in many amendments in Lords to protect free sp: 80% law not about protecting children. Also you've set up special elite police unit to check social media activity about migrant hotels. What on earth does that have to do with children?

If you want to overturn the Online Safety Act you are on the side of predators. It is as simple as that.
    Readers added context
Opposing the Online Safety Act isn’t siding with predators—it’s defending free speech. The law enables censorship, mass surveillance, and vague “harm” rules that threaten privacy and dissent. Rights groups worldwide have called it a danger to democracy. eff.org/pages/uk-onlin… dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

Whole trans-identity ideology skewered in a mere 1, yes 1, minute. And all deliverd through the prism of an exasparated ridiculing of 'old fashioned', 'dinosaur' women with wombs, like me. I own up. And I laughed. Kudos to @rickygervais for this.

I shouldn't be shocked but FFS. A disgrace. As if those abused young women hadn't be treated appallingly enough by state authorities so far, this really is national gross negligence. And those who looked the other way as grooming gangs operated locally, in some instances even

FFS. There isn't one bloody problem - political, cultural, economic, social - that this Labour Gov doesn't think the answer is to shut down debate. Their dull, technocratic mantra -on repeat- is always 'you can't say that'. They really are censorious, ghoulish scoundrels.

2 yrs ago July 2022, I raised the 2-tier approach to female victims of abuse in The Lords in a debate on VAWG. Hearing just a fraction of the Grooming Gangs horrors, fellow peers either tut-tutted or sat in steely silence. One muttered "disgraceful". She meant me, not the abusers

The Lords managed to have a 15-minute debate on the Ballymena riots without anyone mentioning immigration. I managed to sneak in at the end to at least ask an awkward question. Inevitably, it flustered the minister as all other Qs had centred on more funding for police and

This is very convincing. Smearing such sentiments as Far Right is so counter-productive and insulting. I hope MSM & senior politicians listen and actually HEAR her. These are legitimate concerns that at the very least need to be taken seriously not sneered at, dismissed or

In a short debate this afternoon on the government's insipid response to the grooming gangs scandal, the minister focused on reprimanding the opposition spokesman for his tone. I pointed out that tone policing is exactly how the cover-up happened in first place - and is still

I didn't plan to speak on the arms embargo against Israel, but after far too many ministerial replies of 'it's just a question of implementing international law', I called disingenuous BS - and double standards.

I am crying hard having watched #Groomed. Not just shame of this scandal but tears of frustration & fury. As @MaggieOliverUK says: #TheyKnew. They know. Yet victims still thrown under bus. My God they're brave though. Shame too many in politics still too cowardly to bring justice

This is how to hold politicians to account. I was cheering you Jane - what a star. Not letting Starmer get away with his practised lines ("absolute twaddle" as you pithily described it) and that irritating, self-congratulatory 'what I have done for women's spaces in the past'
