Spoke at the NATO Industrial Advisory Group dinner on board HMS Warrior in Portsmouth tonight about the importance of collaboration, interchangeability and innovation in our defence industries across the alliance. @HMSWarrior1860 is quite a ship, my first time on board.

The Conservatives didn’t want to hear the answers to their questions in my wind up to the defence debate and brought the vote early. In a week when we thank our armed forces, it’s a shame they didn’t want to hear the answers to the questions they asked. Oh wells

Today marks the 10-year anniversary since the UK voted to leave the European Union. It is no secret that I was against this decision. I campaigned to remain, and continue to be a vocal critic of Brexit.

In the last decade, we have seen the catastrophic damage that Brexit has caused across the country. Ties with our largest trading partner weakened, division in our country on the rise, and a loss of economic growth that has had a huge impact on places like Plymouth.

While I don't believe in relitigating the single most divisive issue which dominated our politics for several years, I believe we must push for a closer relationship and economic partnership with Europe, working with our friends and our neighbours for a better future.
