Continued storm activity in the south and equatorial Pacific Ocean is pushing long period swells into our area, leading to an increased risk for sneaker waves and rip currents. Stay aware for yourself, pets, and children at the beaches And never turn your back on the ocean!

Drizzle and very light rain showers are moving through the Bay Area this morning, with measurable precipitation observed near the coast and in the hills. Use caution if driving as wet roadways may be slick, and visibility may be reduced.
12-hour precipitation totals across the Bay Area and Central coast. Some areas along the coast and in the hills have picked up a few hundredths of an inch of precipitation.

๐ŸŒŠBeach Hazards Statement is now in effect due to an increased risk of sneaker waves. Sneaker waves surge much further up the beach than expected and can sweep beach-goers into the ocean. Stay back from the water's edge! Never turn your back to the ocean! weather.gov/safety/sneakerโ€ฆ
Sneaker waves are potentially deadly waves that suddenly surge much farther up the beach than expected, overtaking the unaware. Dangers from sneaker waves include being swept into the ocean, rolling logs and heavy debris that can knock over or pin down unsuspecting beachgoers, and potentially deadly cold water immersion. Never turn your back to the ocean! Know the local weather, surf, and tide forecast, and watch the waves from higher ground for 20 minutes before moving closer, continuing to watch until you leave.
