The 5th Annual “Black to the Future” Juneteenth Festival in Queens was an absolute joy to be a part of.
Juneteenth is about celebrating freedom, and there is no better way to practice that than by coming together through unified experiences like these.
Today, we are recognizing the 161st anniversary of #Juneteenth.
On June 19, 1865, the last African Americans who had been held in slavery in Galveston, Texas learned of their long-withheld freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
