    TRH The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester completed the planting of our #QueensGreenCanopy today, an avenue of 26 new Elm, Oak and Lime trees leading to the Arboretum’s entrance to commemorate Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 1/3 @QGCanopy @RoyalFamily

    #OnThisDay in 1952, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne upon the death of her father, George VI. To celebrate Her Majesty’s historic reign, a new free exhibition at the Arboretum will highlight the role of the Queen across the Commonwealth. #PlatinumJubilee

    Today we join the @RoyalFamily and the rest of the country in celebrating the life of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. HRH visited the Arboretum on four occasions and served on several @RoyalNavy ships with dedications at the Arboretum. #PrincePhilip

    The Falklands Conflict began #OnThisDay in 1982 when Argentina invaded and occupied the British Overseas Territory. 255 members of the British Armed Forces and 3 Falkland Island civilians were killed during the conflict and hundreds more were wounded 1/3
