Dave faces no charges in Seattle, and received a traffic ticket for the incident in which he struck and killed Kandula. He is still employed by the Seattle Police Department.

In an incident shortly after his firing, Dave abandoned his truck in an alley after driving away from police "at a high rate of speed." Officers said he seemed intoxicated and blamed the police department for "blackballing" him from getting jobs at other departments.
