- So... I just noticed Google published 30,000+ pages in August for flight paths specifically for SEO. Will have a big impact on aggregator sites like Kayak, Skyscanner, Expedia etc. Imagine if they started doing this for other industries? This has crossed a line in a big way imo.
- SERP Update: Google has now completely removed indented results from Search. I posted about a decrease in August, with Google looking to have doubled-down on the change. If multiple results now appear for a domain, they are no longer grouped together.
- Google is testing a new type of featured result that mimics an AIO but instead features the exact content from a domain. I suspect this has been developed in favour of publishers, essentially being a FS with the AIO experience. h/t @rustybrick Details: brodieclark.com/notes/#jun-2025
00:00 - SERP Feature Update: Google is now showing significantly less featured snippets in search results. It appears that this change is focused just on desktop (not mobile). Decline started on April 11th according to Semrush/Rank Ranger. Are you noticing less featured snippets?
- Google now looks to have launched social media follower counts for profiles and likes/comments/views for the posts themselves. This is after testing on desktop for the first time in August and dates back to April on mobile (now on both devices). Source: brodieclark.com/notes/#nov-2023
- Google is testing a new display for favicons on mobile with a blue gradient circle for the outline. This is opposed to the standard mobile and desktop display which is currently a grey circular background. Source: brodieclark.com/notes/#may-2023
- ChatGPT is a beast and is growing rapidly. Important reminder that this doesn't necessarily mean Google is declining. SEO is alive and well. – Latest Semrush traffic analytics data
- Google has now finished the mobile breadcrumbs removal rollout. It means that only the domain name appears on mobile, with no identifier for the page itself in the URL. Here's what mobile looks like compared to desktop. What do you think about this change?
- Google is testing out a 'page includes' snippet extension. When viewing across queries, it doesn't appear to be overly accurate or useful, with standard attributes. One example had an SEO-related article with "sport basics", clearly being wrong. Details: brodieclark.com/notes/#feb-2025
- This should be interesting to watch. We saw what happened last time a site tried to publicly embarrass Google with spam.
- Google is now doing more testing with Site Names on desktop by showing the domain name instead (as it was previously). This means they're more likely to display the brand name within the title link – either adding automatically or because it is placed within the <title>.
- Google looks to have now launched the 'filter by' lefthand menu on desktop for all eCommerce queries in the US. Previously, the menu would show as a test, but it now looks to be showing as the default. Source: brodieclark.com/notes/#nov-2023
