As Trump met Xi in Beijing this week, Reuters reported that one issue expected to come up was deportation: whether China will take back more of its nationals from the US. That is the diplomatic version of the story. Walk the Line: ICE Nation is the human version.

The water canon truck accurately spotted me, by myself and in full press gear, holding a phone behind a lamp post 🙄

Tonight, trying to get back from Mongkok to Wanchai, we were turned down by 3 taxi drivers. Then a SUV drove up and the young couple gave us a ride. Wouldn’t even let us help pay West Tunnel toll. They were out just to get people home. Moments like this make me believe in HK.

I am often asked how China is different today. I always knew the answer: it's confidence. But even I didn't expect the line to be so clear. The crater happened not at the onset of the pandemic, but in April 2022, when Shanghai was supposed to emerge from the lockdowns but didn't.

I have a question: if Cheung has no idea what the law will say, how does he know 99.9% of people won't be affected?

Whoever wrote this headline was being far too charitable. China didn’t sacrifice a province to save the world. It did it to escape blame, to win praise, to look “extraordinary.” But it backfired terribly. The lockdown of Wuhan triggered a global panic...

At some point someone’s gonna figure out that was me... so here’s what happened: the raptors came onto the bridge chasing protestors. One pointed his baton at me asking me to leave. I said I was separated from my crew and had too much equipment. He left me alone.

A British filmmaker has made a doc to tell "the truth abt HK." In the 1st ep, he interviews Regina Ip, Yonden Lhatoo and Nury Vittachi, who invariably claim the extradition bill meant well, was misrepresented, and those opposing it never read it. Who knew?

Scene outside #PolyU right now. Fresh off their landslide election victory, pan-dems have come up to the campus, demanding that police release the remaining protestors still inside.

The law applies to any acts undertaken in HK, any acts undertaken by a HK permanent resident outside HK, & interestingly also is said to have extraterritorial power, applying to any non-HK permanent resident outside HK but carrying out one of the defined crimes directed at HK.
