Sunak bought just over £9,000 of Meta ads on the 30th and has now spent £31,500 on them in the last 7 days. This is an unprecedentedly large figure for a UK politician outside of an election period.

Facebook says it is “urgently investigating” how its Ad Library broke two days before the election. Google’s data is 9 days out of date. The big platforms aren’t living up to their word on ad transparency.

These campaigns existed for a few months at most. They never said where the money came from. They never built trust about who they were. There was no meaningful public face to hold to account. They were a loophole posing as legitimate campaign activity.
