It's still snowy up there! Meadows and some trails are flooded. Snow is persisting in some shady areas as low as 8,000 feet, with extensive, deep snow coverage by 9,000 feet. Stay on trails to protect growing plants and plan for wet feet. 4/5

Marked trails may be hard or impossible to follow; hikers should have GPS, as well as map and compass (and know how to use them). 5/5

Sections of trails in the Glacier Point Road area will still be wet and muddy, with snow persisting at the higher elevations (e.g., Ostrander Lake). If you want to go backpacking, wilderness permits are now available one week in advance (not the day before, as in the past). (5/6)

Based on current forecasting, we are not planning any additional closures this weekend. This could change if the river rises more than forecast. Lower and North Pines Campgrounds, along with Housekeeping Camp, will remain closed through Sunday night. 1/4

Last weekend, a visitor attempted to float down the river, fell out of their tube, and was found clinging to a tree in the river. He was only saved by rapid response by trained rangers and a lot of luck. • Do not cross bridges if water is flowing over them. 3/4

    • Use caution driving: minor flooding is occurring on some roads. • Yosemite will be very busy this weekend. Expect delays at entrance stations and difficultly finding parking. Arrive before mid-morning to avoid delays. 3/4
