I'm joining Ethlabs @ethlabs_org, a new R&D lab to grow Ethereum and ETH. The network and the asset are entering a new age of adoption, and this is a shift we cannot miss. More capital is coming onchain, both institutional and retail, through the portals of DeFi, stablecoins,

Announcing Ethlabs: a non-profit R&D lab for Ethereum and ETH Our mission is to make Ethereum the settlement layer of the global economy. The internet became global because shared protocols created a common language between networks. Private systems remained useful, but

I wrote up a detailed explanation of the 7-block re-org that occurred last week on the beacon chain. It goes over the basics of the PoS Ethereum consensus and shows visually how the re-org happened, and why it is not inherent to the protocol

EIP-1559 is going live today! I am very excited to see all the work that went into it come alive 😀 And among all the excitement for the burn, I wanted to share a little more about why this mechanism is in place

Pleased to share our "Improve UX" track update! TL;DR: High focus on interop. Build out and strengthen intent-based infrastructure, preparing the ground for fast and trust-minimised backends. Drive down costs and latency with a focus on faster and stronger settlement on L1 and

Excited to announce that @ralexstokes and I are moving to the position of EF Research co-leads! With this new role, I hope to accelerate pragmatic research for Ethereum and find more ways for us to involve the ecosystem in our many exciting projects. What is EF Research?

Launching today "RIG Open Problems" (ROPs), a collection of problem prompts we're looking to solve with *you*! 🌱 The prompts come with some questions to answer, but could lead to more open-ended explorations.

Let's bring fast finality asap to @ethereum ! We published an update on our related work and projects last Friday, and on this topic, these are the relevant points: - Shorten slot times to increase the heartbeat of the network and decrease every delay: Time to inclusion / fast

The only serious technical argument in this post is fast L1 finality—something we as L2s can neither fix nor mitigate. We fully depend on the L1 progress rate here. I'd told @ethereumfndn leadership earlier in summer that's the ONLY thing we care about on the ETH roadmap.

I wrote a new post about rollup economics. This framework hopefully provides more clarity on the various parties co-existing in a rollup system, and helps guide discussions on fees and economic designs

While thinking about PBS, I came upon the possibility of unbundling its market structure (proposer/builder anti-griefing mechanisms) from the shape of its allocation mechanism (the whole block auction). Here is a post exploring this alternative!

Shortening the Ethereum L1 slot time from 12 to 6 seconds has benefits across the stack: * Better UX * More value for users, with lower fees on DEXes * A better confirmation engine for interop protocols * More! We make the case for its headliner consideration in Glamsterdam.

Ethereum will have won not when we win over others, but when we win over ourselves, and deliver the most awesome world computer. So much work left to do. Let’s push forward.
