As someone who has never taken a business class yet often gets questions from business students, here’s my advice: Build a business, even a small one. It’ll teach you more in 3 months than a year in a business class.

If you think about it, most brands have an advertising team, not a marketing team. Maybe that’s why so much current marketing is uninspired and underperforming. Real marketing is creative. You can’t click a few buttons in a dashboard and get leads. It’s also more powerful.

1/ Most industries are full of self-serving leaders. People unwilling to change because they benefit from the convention. Big companies will not lose on “innovation” and certainly not on money. They will lose on leadership that gives people what they want.
