New Zealanders elected a government that will treat people equally, regardless of their race. The sooner the Māori Party comes to terms with that – and start providing solutions for Māori instead of divisive theatrics – the better.

After having a laugh about it, Jacinda Ardern and I are going to auction a signed copy of the Hansard (official record) of her calling me an “arrogant prick” to raise money for pricks everywhere, a great cause, the Prostate Cancer Foundation. trademe.co.nz/art/nz-artists…

The job of the media isn't to take sides, it's to reflect the views of all New Zealanders.

Imagine the media outrage if ACT had pulled a stunt like the one on Thursday. But the Māori Party get another a free pass for their bad behaviour. Why the double standard?

Polls show more New Zealanders support the Treaty Principles Bill than oppose it. When was the last time a journalist reported the views of a member of the public who supports the Bill?

If you believe you have special rights because of your ethnicity, you’re going to be disappointed with the Treaty Principles Bill. When you’re used to special rights, equality feels like oppression.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk tragically shows the difference between free speech and violence. People who stupidly say free speech IS violence or makes them ‘unsafe’ should finally be able to see the difference. May he rest in peace and our thoughts go out to his loved ones.

At the last election, Kiwis voted to stop divisive policies like co-governance, Three Waters, the Māori Health authority, race-based waitlists, and two different chief executives at every government department. We’re now winding these policies back, but all of this could be back

I’m proud that our Government has shown independence in foreign policy. Without political hype, we have worked through the issues as a Coalition and come to the right position on a terrible situation where there are no easy options.

Here’s my challenge to the media: if you want to regain the trust of New Zealanders, stop applying a double standard to the Māori Party, and start calling out their behaviour like you would for any other political party.

The division you are seeing is not caused by the Treaty Principles Bill. It has built up over decades during which people have come to regard themselves as members of an ethnic group, on one side of a Partnership, instead of as New Zealanders.

Ironically, the group who complained they were going to be the victims of violence ended up being the violent ones.
