New Zealanders elected a government that will treat people equally, regardless of their race. The sooner the Māori Party comes to terms with that – and start providing solutions for Māori instead of divisive theatrics – the better.

- Polls show more New Zealanders support the Treaty Principles Bill than oppose it. When was the last time a journalist reported the views of a member of the public who supports the Bill?
- If you believe you have special rights because of your ethnicity, you’re going to be disappointed with the Treaty Principles Bill. When you’re used to special rights, equality feels like oppression.

- The division you are seeing is not caused by the Treaty Principles Bill. It has built up over decades during which people have come to regard themselves as members of an ethnic group, on one side of a Partnership, instead of as New Zealanders.
