A week since dust settles on the election result, I’d like to thank the many people, in and out of politics, who have messaged me kind words. It is genuinely appreciated. I also wanted to post some thank yous and some advice to the new MSPs👇 Onwards and upwards as they say.

In my parting comments to the Scottish Parliament I set a challenge to the new intake of politicians to use their platform wisely. Words used by people in public office have consequences in the real world. Today’s crime statistics in Scotland vindicate that sad but true reality.

If this is my final contribution to Parliament, then I hope it serves as my legacy message to future parliaments and politicians. If it sounds deeply personal, it's because it is. The public deserve better politics. It must serve not repress those with the quietest voices. #FMQs

As the sun sets over the beautiful Clyde coast I call home, it also sets on my life as an MSP. I principally want to thank the unsung heroes of all this, those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help our constituents, day in day out. You’ve all been amazing, thank you! J🙏🏻

Usually by this point I’ve nipped home, catch exit poll, throw suit on, chomp pot noodle, grab rosette and run out the door to the count. Getting home 11hrs later after bleary eyed breakfast tv & radio. This time: pup and I watch telly, off to sleep and contemplate the what ifs🙄

Much chat about the 🍑 vote these last few weeks. It’s the nature of the political system here in Scotland! Your constituency MSP can win with just one vote more than the next candidate, whereas ALL votes on the second (peach!) ballot tally and can elect an MSP wherever you are!

Get out there and vote. Turnout is predicted to be low, but if you want change in places like Greenock, not five more years of the same, the only way to get change is to vote for it. Polls open till 10pm. For those in the west of Scotland, here’s my pitch! 👇 #peachvoteLibDem

You know it’s polling day when you get soaked in freezing rain doing a quick early morning leaflet run. Sunny Gourock! 🗳️ 🌧️ 🔶 #peachvoteLibDem

Tactical voting guides, let’s face it many voters do vote tactically, suggest voting Lib Dem in a range of seats across the country: from Strathkelvin & Bearsden, Inverness, Argyll, Caithness, Skye, Fife and Edinburgh, your local Lib Dem candidate is best placed to win the seat!

In 24 hours the polls will be open. Whatever happens I’ve enjoyed meeting many people across the west of Scotland in Ayrshire, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire & Dunbartonshire. What strikes me most, common to them all, is many people feel forgotten by politics, and that must change.

If re-elected to represent Inverclyde or the west coast, I’ll continue to fight for more money for our vital college sector. Many of whom are on their knees financially. If we want to up-skill, re-skill and give young people a good start in life; it all starts with education.

I had the pleasure of visiting our local hospice. A sector which has been vastly underfunded for years, relying on charity, yet is essentially an NHS service. I was able to secure some cash in the recent budget, but more is needed. The next gov needs to step up and fund hospices!

Hear me out. The moderate Tory party of Ruth Davidson that I joined 11 years ago has vanished. She led on the environment, equalities and appealed to working class voters. Kemi and co ripped that all apart, she doesn’t want you. So here’s my direct message to former Tory voters👂
