- People point to issues in Harry Potter like Cho Chang’s name or antisemetic tropes for goblins as signs that Rowling is bad. But to me, while those are worth criticism; the bigger issue is Rowling’s lack of desire to hear critique. Artist screw up; great artists grow up.
- Sorry to talk this again but I want to be clear. I don’t boycott Harry Potter because it gives Rowling money. She’s got money. The reason to not support HP is she uses it to stay relevant & argues that its continued popularity is a sign that her antitrans hate is valid.
- Still can’t get over JK Rowling is actually pretending to be a man to write a book to throws herself a pity party for having shouted hate and abuse at trans women and saying they’re men pretending to be women.
- These both can coexist. Frodo & Sam are a great representation of an emotional vulnerable platonic male friendship. They can also be gay lovers. There is no one way to read them because they’re fictional characters. You can read them either way. - Jesus Christ, log the hell off. Seriously, this is genuinely unstable behavior.
- While I’m disappointed in John Mulaney, I’m not surprised. It speaks to how normalized transphobia is in comedy & how cis dudes don’t have to care about it, so they won’t. My sympathy lies with trans folks in the audience who wanted a fun night & got a reminder of hate instead.
- From now I’m, I’m just going to say “I wish upon Matt Walsh everything he wishes for queer people.” If that gets taken down for violations of terms of service on any platform, they’ve just tacitly admitted what Walsh’s rhetoric really stands for.
