    Alpha School mid-year report card
Plenty of skeptics say 2 hours of AI-powered academics can't produce elite outcomes. Some of those skeptics are Alpha School parents. Fair enough. So I gave the school a test. I fed the Alpha School...

SAT scores were released today. Three girls in my Alpha High group were described by their parents as “not math/science girls.” They’ve been focused on other pursuits—launching a Broadway musical, competing for Miss Teen USA, building millions of TikTok followers, and becoming

Austin is assembling the largest group of 1) educational innovators and builders, and more importantly: 2) parents who want a radically better education for their kids. This has made Austin the epicenter of educational innovation and the undisputed K-12 leader in the world. If

People constantly tell me they’re “blown away” by Alpha School kids. I always say the same thing: Every kid is amazing. We just create the environment where they can prove it. Our DreamLauncher gives middle & high schoolers the tools to discover their purpose - and the

When Shohei Ohtani was a high school freshman, he created a detailed "dream sheet" with one central goal: to be the #1 draft pick for 8 NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) teams. It was a 64-cell roadmap based on a framework called the Harada Method. Here's exactly what Shohei

At some high-end private schools, more than 50% of families spend $10,000+ on after-school tutors. Isn’t the school supposed to educate the student?

Packed Alpha School info session in SF today. “If you’re hiring a tutor, we’re not doing our job.” “If a student isn’t learning, it’s our fault, not the student’s.” I don’t understand how one cannot be incredibly excited about this.

The Alpha School virus started here - astralcodexten.com/p/your-review-… A few months ago, no one on Twitter had heard of Alpha. Today, it's the most talked about school in the world. Love it or hate it, it is causing people with the power to change education to rethink their priors. A

Parents don't realize their high-end private school lies about their child's academic abilities, giving A's and B's when the child is years behind.

I substitute teach at a very high end private school and I’ve observed the same type of thing. Also the tolerated chaos in the lower school classrooms adds to this. Everything needs to be group work. No one seems to be able to sit quietly and think.

Alpha School has hundreds of parents showing up at our info sessions in NY/SF because this is true. You know your high-end private school is holding your kid back. You don’t realize how much.

A hedge fund manager, sending his kids to one of the most elite private schools in Manhattan, told me how their school straight up refused to allow his kids to accelerate in math The school’s attitude was “if you don’t like how we teach, there are plenty of other families who

As principal, I’ve noticed that most parents need two things to move their child to Alpha: 1. A reference from a trusted adult in their city (e.g., hearing Austin parents love it doesn’t help in NYC). 2. To see a student at the school do something their kid can’t do (e.g., love

For some crazy reason, society has decided it's okay for kids to hate their time in school. I talk to executives who spend immense time and energy making their organizations great places to work, where employees can thrive. They then turn around and say, “Yeah, I know my kid

Kids thrive in environments built on optimism, not defeatism. At Alpha School, we teach growth mindset starting in Kindergarten—a parent favorite. By middle and high school, students read Matt Ridley’s The Rational Optimist as a counterweight to the pessimism that can pervade

I'm so excited that @mbateman is building a Montessori-based Alpha Timeback school. Working with the world's best educators to reimagine how kids should spend their first dozen years is the best part of this job.

Montessorium: students use the best of hands on materials and the best app-based learning. They start their day with classroom chores, then sit and schedule their own work in composition books, a schedule which includes lessons, hands-on work, and apps. You can have it all

There is nothing like Sage. Every day I am more excited about it. One of the great tragedies of modern education is how the subject matter is all hacked apart. We are bringing it back together, starting with young kids. Math, music, reading, storytelling, studying, playing:
