Losing a parent is a profound event. Unimaginable on some levels. And yet we find a way to start life anew building on the foundation of the myriad ways in which they shaped us. After 11 years, I feel like I’m finally coming to terms with my father’s death. I miss you, papa.

I miss his big heart so much. I miss him calling me up to just say a goofy thing. Or how’d he pat my cheek and tell me, “You’re doing good, kiddo.” People think he was cynical. He was not. This world broke his heart.
