Nice reminder from the best car reviewer on the internet: it’s possible to be a car enthusiast and also want dense, livable, prosperous and inclusive cities.

"Science is real" this person loudly proclaims, except for science around density, transit, housing, homeownership...

Only SF could manage to take an expensive bike infra project and implement it in a way that is actively hostile to bikes 🤦‍♂️

What happens to the Valencia Street center cycle track when a vehicle obstructs the driving lane? Exactly what you expect. This wouldn’t happen with curbside protected bike lanes (@BetterValencia), which are better for safety, business, and climate. Please end the “experiment.”

Automation can massively improve human prosperity, but the biggest breakthroughs recently have been limited to digital spaces. Hoping to help change that. I’m thrilled to be joining @kvogt and @pariljain at @thebotcompany to make helpful bots a reality.

I'm back to building! Excited to share I've started a company with @pariljain and @lukeholoubek. We're building bots that do chores so you don't have to. Everyone is busy. Bots can help. So many things compete for our time - commutes, longer working hours, and the complexities

I left Cruise last week after nearly 7 years. Working on such a difficult problem with such a talented group of people was an insane privilege. Solving driverless cars is harder than anyone expected, but the determination I saw at Cruise over the years was inspiring and humbling.

I lived in Emeryville for 5 years - huge amount of respect for your leadership there. This note is so disappointing. Chasing clean energy jobs out of the Bay just because you have personal qualms with Elon is irresponsible governing and a disservice to your constituents.

Webviz is honestly one of the most incredible desktop apps (web or native) I’ve ever used. It’s an indispensable part of the daily workflow.

New tech increasingly shortcuts the ultra rich and goes straight to the masses. A billionaire could not have bought the iPhone in your hand before you could. A billionaire could not have a driverless ride even a few years ago, but thousands experience this every day with @Cruise

40% of fatalities in SF in 2019 involved left turns - saferleftturns.org Good that SFMTA is applying attention to this problem. @Cruise AVs don’t have a-pillar blind spots like humans do and have no trouble tracking oncoming traffic + pedestrians simultaneously

Tesla seems to be the only US automaker recognizing how potent the competition from China is. US automakers can hide behind protectionist policies for a bit, but increasingly excellent Chinese cars are going to dominate elsewhere.

I can see why $TSLA sales are falling in China. The competition is ... quite impressive.

After 4.5 years at Cruise, this milestone is definitely a special one. But this is just the beginning. Autonomous vehicles are going to transform transportation.

    9) You can see the full, unedited shot of the steering wheel and cameras below. This also includes the time before and after rides when the AV was in “ghost mode” and driving around without anyone in it. youtube.com/watch?v=svebS-…

More proof that the ML techniques at the core of our stack position us to scale and generalize to new driving domains. I had the privilege to work on this with an outstanding team across @Cruise & Honda - proud to take this first step with our partners in Japan.

We recently started testing AVs in Tochigi, Japan. Unlike me, our AI systems for prediction and planning quickly re-learned how to drive well on the other side of the road. Proud of @Cruise & @HondaJP teams for completing a critical step towards international scaling!

Speaking of AI breakthroughs, this is what scaling fully driverless cars—all powered by crazy cool ML—looks like. We now regularly deploy 100+ fully driverless @Cruise cars (no driver, just passengers) concurrently on the streets of San Francisco, scaling faster every day.

Good thing we’ve been heavily investing in expanding reservoir capacity to store more and offset climate change-induced volatility, right @MarinWaterInfo ?
