It's not a case of simply putting tracks in the asphalt: we have to dig down, divert and upgrade utilities, being mindful of interfaces, including an underground tunnel between Snow Hill and Moor Street, we knocked down a building and had to clear the site, too.

#BirminghamWestsideMetroextension Did you know that a grass track can help with promoting clean air and provide surface water drainage? Plus, we think it makes our Edgbaston Village terminus look great!

Trams are now operating between Wolverhampton and Edgbaston Village as the second phase of Birmingham Westside Metro Extension, which we've been planning and building since 2019, is now open. It was great to see so many people at the tram stops excited for the new route opening.
