Only took 8 years to get to a sensible place on differentiation. So glad that @Ofstednews has smashed through the nonsense around differentiation.

The more resources I make the more angry/sad I get by the state of UK textbooks. Standards are so low. Explanations barely exist. Textbooks skirt over explicitly teaching the hard stuff with absolute clarity. An insufficient number of questions to allow consolidation. [1/n]

Deliberate practice of one specific skill in isolation. I don’t know why it is so controversial in teaching when it’s fundamental in mastering basics in a sport.

I can no longer tolerate being told by elderly women in my family to overly respect and/or appease the poor behaviour of male relatives in my family. They are grown ass men who act like spoiled brats.

So much wrong with this - where do I even begin? Your success is built upon a foundation of rights that women before you struggled for. Your success is because of the women who shouted for their rights which are now yours.

Yesterday on my walk home I bumped into some of my @Michaela6th students. Spent an hour catching up! They are all so grown up and truly brilliant young people with bright futures ahead of them! All going to Russell Group Unis. Taught them in 2015-16

Just to add 2 cent: I think friendship is a two way street. I know everybody's capacity to give varies, but if my friends didn't visit me if I was in hospital. I would be reconsidering if they were really worth your time. No need to be bitter, but no need to keep the same ppl.

And this is why schools who claim to have great behaviour policies actually don’t. You walk into classrooms and see children talking not about the lesson. They usually don’t get the work done, too. The top schools in the country have silence in their lessons.

I respectfully disagree completely. A textbook demonstrates a progression model where a concept is fleshed out from start to finish. An idea lost when teaching isolated lessons via a PowerPoint. The poor use of a textbook undermines the excellent idea of using a textbook.

People have begun to romanticise a golden age of the textbook.Great textbooks are helpful but they went out of fashion because for many teachers they became the lesson itself.Turn to page 32 and copy out the first paragraph then do all the questions, was a familiar instruction.

Would love to see how teachers would approach a question like this? #MathsChat

More teacher directed methods lead to better outcomes. More inquiry tends to lead towards worse outcomes. @Kris_Boulton @researchED1 #rED23
