It's true that Harris is an amoral careerist whose default position is a bland corporatism. But that's not Vance. Vance is more dangerous. He's a man always in search of himself -- a semi-adult perennially lurching from one identity to another: Trump is Hitler, Trump is the

That so many Zohran voters expect and seek social credit for their Zohran vote tells you a great deal. This is the opposite of the so-called invisible majority. This is the poser class. The characterologically vapid. The new faux-progressive base.

It's okay if Vladimir Putin wants to speak at the UN. Or Xi Jingping. Or Recep Erdogan. Or the mullahs of Iran. Or Muammar Gaddafi. Or Idi Amin. The only person we can't stomach is the democratically elected leader of the Jewish state.

Rogan has helped expand the discourse, making room for ideas and points of view that run afoul of the sclerotic and insular legacy media, but there's absolutely nothing legendary about this. /1

BREAKING: Joe Rogan has just rejected Ukraine President Zelensky’s offer to join him for a show on his podcast. Joe Rogan is a legend😂

Misleading. Zelensky did not offer himself as a guest, but someone pitched the Ukrainian president to him as a guest. Moreover, this did not happen “just”, but some time ago, as Rogan indicated in an episode of his podcast on November 22, 2024. thedailybeast.com/joe-rogan-clai… news.com.au/world/north-am… x.com/DrewPavlou/sta…

There is a blindness on the new right w/r/t Russia, which they insist on viewing sympathetically. That is their starting point, and it's divorced from much, if any, knowledge of history or culture. It leads to the most absurd cul de sac, in which victim becomes villain. /1

Oswald. It's always been Oswald. This used to be easier for Americans to believe because there was a widespread faith in the institutions. Also: We used to be less stupid, less prone to mythical thinking, not so easily coopted by hucksters and conspiracy theorists.

Over the past 32 years, Morning Edition has broadcast a reading of the Declaration of Independence by NPR staff as a way of marking Independence Day. This year, we also offer some historical context.

The thesis of The West Wing was that civic-minded, Ivy-educated liberals, given the chance, would do a brilliant job of running the world. The problem is when the people in charge are not civic-minded and only superficially intelligent, outfitted with the correct lingo.../1
