RideSD achieved a BIG win when @sdmts voted to accept credit card and mobile wallet taps as fare payment. Hopping on transit will soon be easy! RideSD led this effort, which began a year ago when we voiced our thoughts at an MTS board meeting. Thank you to all our supporters!

Amtrak Surfliner update: Metrolink secured a contract for a barrier wall in San Clemente to get the tracks re-opened. Still no timeline, but rumored to be August-October reopening. I-95 in Philly reopened in less than 2 weeks, where's the urgency here? metrolinktrains.com/rider-info/gen…

A California freeway collapsed in 2007 that was expected to take months to fix, but politicians worked to remove bureaucracy and red tape to get it fixed in 25 days. Let's make it happen for the SD -> LA Amtrak corridor. It's a choice not to.

We wanted to show y'all how bad beach access is from a trolley stop here in San Diego, so we made this video that recreates our March 16th walk audit with @CirculateSD

🚨The Orange Line Trolley tracks have washed out. 20k people rely on this line daily. This is a big deal and there should be a massive response to get the trains running again asap. Remember the response when the freeway burned in LA? @GavinNewsom @PeteButtigieg

With funding for improvements, trains could speed up to 110mph with a 30-minute travel time between Oceanside and Downtown. Faster than driving.

San Diego implemented the most draconian rules in the country on scooters, causing 80% drop in usage and forcing most scooter operators out of the city. But scooters are important for the "last mile" to use public transit. A necessary piece for hitting our climate goals.

We had an overwhelmingly positive response to our post on high speed Amtrak/Coaster trains. There’s massive potential for this rail line and the huge response shows citizens want fast rail! It’s time for our leaders to prioritize it. Let’s go San Diego!

Currently, it takes 59 min to travel by train from Oceanside to Downtown San Diego via Amtrak or Coaster, comparable to a rush hour car commute, but slower than the 40 min no traffic drive time. Speeds already approach 90MPH, but most of the track is too curvy to get up to speed

This would transform travel in the region, making climate-friendly rail the fastest and most convenient way to travel between north and south county. No more sitting in traffic.
