    Asking women who are used to wearing a hijab or burkha to take it off, overnight, and that too on the street, is like asking a woman to take her top or dupatta off, or pull her sari pallu down. This is not law & order, this is humiliation at best, sexual harassment at worst

    So after Indian media reported that govt hadn't placed orders for vaccine, GoI releases data that it placed orders for 11 cr Covishield and 5 cr Covaxin. On Apr 28. For vaccine expansion from May 1. Like ordering Bhel Puri. pib.gov.in/PressReleseDet…

    On the front page of @NewIndianXpress, a decision to stop covering #cricket during the pandemic. "In such a tragic time, we find it incongruous that the festival of cricket is on in India... This is commercialism gone crass. The problem is not with the game but its timing."

    #FactCheck I emailed Prof Abul Barkat to verify @amitmalviya's tweet. The Dhaka Univ economist clarified: "I've never said 113 lakh Hindus left E. Pak/Bangladesh for India. So,Mr Malviya has very well twisted my research findings regarding the destination of the 'missing Hindus'"

    A Sri Lankan friend tonight told me people outside the country asked her if she's safe, what with the protests and all. People are asking me also it's safe to travel to #SriLanka. Some even cancelled out of fear. Here's my uncharacteristic message:

    Some columnist is soon gonna write that paid vaccination is ok if we are all Team India, vasudhaiva kutimbakam. If each of us pay for our maids, security guards, drivers, India will be vaccinated. Jai Hind, welfare state murdabad. My bet is Chetan Bhagat will write it first.
