- MN Gov. Tim Walz just said on “60 Minutes” the state’s new paid family and medical leave program was “promoted by the business community.” This went unchallenged. It’s also untrue. The state’s two most influential business organizations opposed it as it passed in 2023 and now.
- Donald Trump just concluded his remarks at St. Cloud rally. He spoke for about one hour and 35 minutes. Despite very warm arena very few left early. If his goal was to excite the Trump base in MN he seems to have succeeded.

- BREAKING: MN Supreme Court rules Gov. Walz violated state law by calling special election too soon in District 40B. DFL candidate Curtis Johnson won in November, but Ramsey County judge ruled he didn't live in the district and can't take office. Election was scheduled for 1/28.
- Maj. General Jon Jensen of the MN National Guard says they were ordered to activate early yesterday and soldiers were notified. He says there was no “clear mission” and he was uncomfortable sending troops into unfamiliar terrain in darkness.
