ABOUT

Hey, I’m Ayo! I’ve recently quit in my full-time job as an accountant to follow one of my passions. 2020 was a real game changer, forcing me to confront and overcome my deepest fears around work and family life.

About Me

I’ve worked as a CIMA qualified accountant for the last 20 years, dealing with directors, CEOs, FDs etc.  At first, I was keen to climb the corporate ladder and earn as much as possible as this equated to success as I saw it. I’ve since realised that success is much more than a job, a career or money in the bank. To me, success is measured by the peace of mind I feel and being able to sleep through the night without worrying about tomorrow.  Although money helps in achieving some of my goals, it’s simply a means to an end and not an end itself.

For these reasons, and many other unsavoury experiences in the corporate world, I’ve decided that life is far too short to spend my life pursing things I have no passion for or even remotely enjoy.

The idea for affordable capsule came to me about 10 years ago when I first took a intentional career break and travelled to South America. I was so excited on the flight that I frantically scribbled my ideas on a tablet. However, not long after returning from my travels, I’d managed to convince myself this wasn’t a good business idea, so went back to the day job.

Fast forward to 2021 and some major life events namely the passing of my sister and some unexpected health issues, I made my mind up to purse this capsule wardrobe idea (as I call it).

So, you may ask, what’s this capsule wardrobe idea? If you’re into high street fashion that doesn’t break the bank, then I think you’ll feel very much at home here. Like most women (and men), I often get carried away buying new items for my work/play wardrobe each season. What I’m usually left with it a load of high fashion pieces which work well for one season but look out place in the next.

Now, I’m not advocating that you go on a shopping spree and buy a whole new wardrobe when you already have so much you don’t wear in your wardrobe. Instead, I’ll share my experiences of how not to succumb to the fast fashion impulse buys, but to think before buying so that today’s purchases fit in with your lifestyle.

Any questions, shoot me a message, and if you happen to be a brand that would like to partner with me, I’d love to hear from you, send an email to ayo@affordablecapsule.com
