Submissions for the EuroBSDCon 2026 Paul Schenkeveld Travel Grant closes on the 1st of February.
When you know someone who can use the support please let them know!
If you are keen on attending next year's conference and require financial support, please consider applying for the "Paul Schenkeveld Travel Grant" for 2026.
You can do this by contacting the board before February 1st, 2026, stating who you are, what you are doing with BSD (😈⛳🐡), and why you should receive the grant.
This grant is in recognition Paul's accomplishments and in memory of his work and dedication to the BSD community, the EuroBSDCon Foundation is offering a travel grant in his name.
Paul was one of the few - if not the only one - to have attended all EuroBSDCon conferences since their inception in 2001. Besides his many contributions to BSD in general and the EuroBSDCon conferences in particular, he established the EuroBSDCon Foundation in 2010 to ensure continuity for many more conferences.
The EuroBSDCon Foundation Board will consider all valid submissions in its sole discretion and communicate its selection by March 2026. The selected person will receive travel expense reimbursement and hotel accommodation during the conference as well as free entrance to the conference and social event.
More information can be found on: https://eurobsdconfoundation.org/travel-grant.html
The 2026 edition will be held in Brussels, Belgium.

I'm still writing my 'memoirs' of EuroBSDCon 2025. It's difficult to move forward because the emotions are strong. Computer science has always been my passion, and being among fantastic people like those I meet at the BSD Conferences is always something incredible. And, like all impactful experiences, you often need a little time to avoid sounding like those TV hucksters who are just trying to sell or convince.
Because true, genuine feelings deserve the right importance, in a world increasingly made up of appearances.
I sure ain't @bsdtv but doing the numbers for a sponsor... our full camera/streamer package that cost around $5000 has been used at:
EuroBSDcon 2024
OpenZFS Summit 2024
BSDCan 2025
EuroBSDcon 2025
OpenZFS Summit 2025
That's $1000 per event and dropping with every use! (Not everyone understands that concept and we're doing our best to explain it.)
Our second package and a half have been used at:
BSDCan 2025
EuroBSDcon 2025
These two events were our first ALL-ATEM (mixer/streamer) events which makes for higher-quality results and an easier experience for the volunteer operators.
Ping me if you want help keep A/V costs down through strategic purchases!
Excellent keynote by @Edent from this year's @EuroBSDCon on the UK's app for Covid tracing:

Recovering and reminiscing on an incredible #EuroBSDCon 2025 in Zagreb, Croatia! 🇭🇷
What a week! Over 220 attendees, 48 brilliant speakers, and 16 amazing sponsors came together to celebrate all things #BSD. The energy was #BSD, deep dives into tech, inspiring talks, and those hallway conversations that spark new ideas and collaborations.
Huge shoutout to the video crew who made sure every moment was captured, and to everyone who traveled near and far to be part of this vibrant community. Whether it was hacking, learning, or just geeking out over #BSD, the connections made here are what make this event so special.
Zagreb, and the incredible Organizing Committee, you were the perfect host! Already counting down to the next one in Brussels! 🇧🇪
Did you attend? What was your highlight? 👇

Hi @EuroBSDCon
I just published the pictures I took during the EuroBSDCon 2025 event in Zagreb, Croatia.
http://www.osorio.me/photos/2025-EuroBSDCon/
Enjoy :)
I have uploaded the slides for my #EuroBSDCon2025 #ebc25 talk about creating products with #NetBSD (and why I chose NetBSD in the first place)
https://www.netbsd.org/gallery/presentations/sborrill/eurobsdcon2025/NetManager.pdf
The slides from my @EuroBSDCon talk are up: https://events.eurobsdcon.org/2025/talk/CSWRW8/
Back home from #EuroBSDCon2025 and my first time visiting EuroBSDCon.
What a fantastic event! Thanks to everyone who helped to organize, speak, record or otherwise make it happen!
I'll certainly be back next year in Brussels. :)
Another @EuroBSDCon goes into the record books with:
- 100% slide capture
- streaming to both Peertube @ Youtube
( Many thanks to @h3artbl33d )
In fact the conference had a distinct Fediverse vibe with @stefano and @h3artbl33d talk and Christos Margiolis with Re-decentralizing the Internet with BSD
And all it took was 2 dead HDMI cables, 1 keynote room switch, some early Sunday morning light building AV system hacking and a lost voice. We never did find out what was behind that blast door. ( I hear it's dusty storage, but have imagined something much more interesting) Bojan went above a beyond. Including some lozenges that helped me recover enough to be heard.
We are pleased to announce at the @EuroBSDCon closing session that #BSDCan 2026 will take place June 17th - 20th in Ottawa, Canada.
See you there!
The European *BSD event of the year 2025 has come to an end! For real now...
😈⛳🐡
A colossal shout-out to everyone who attended, spoke, helped organize and made this event awesome!
Vidimo se sljedeće godine u Brussels!
