Irish artist, Electra Grant, grew up in the wilds of the Tipperary countryside. Surrounded by lush woodlands and rivers, she and her brother would spend hours exploring the enchanting landscape. These memories are often the inspiration behind her practice.
Electra has an MA in Children’s Literature: Children’s Book Illustration, for which she received Distinction, from Goldsmiths, University of London. As part of her dissertation she created two picturebooks, one worded and one wordless. You can view a sample of these below.
Goody and Old Paws follows two naughty knitted dogs and a long legged stuffed bird as they wreak havoc but get their just deserts!

Eat Your Greens looks at the magic of nature as everything slowly starts to grow and change. Maybe there’s a little magic in these plants too as they seem to become more vibrant and wild as they bloom.

Electra also has a First Class Honours BA in Fine Art from Crawford College of Art and Design, in Cork City.
Throughout the final year of her BA Electra combined large charcoal drawings of clothes with documentary style videos. They consisted of the drawings being worn, while the participants were interviewed. This work earned her an invitation to exhibit at the Sarah Walker Gallery in West Cork where her piece Coat subsequently sold and now resides in a private home in Los Angeles.
