In fact, there are two new functions here:

1. The search text is empty, but files to includes or files to excludes is found should be supported in Search. The effect at this time is similar to a filter, hoping to filter out all files that meet the conditions. Like the screenshot, the search results should be all ts files under the workspace.

2. Regular expressions are supported in files to includes, files to excludes and list.find( in Explorer) . For regular skilled developers, the search criteria can be simplified. The final effect, I think, is command consistent with the regular expression in the Search input box.

You can use the "Search: Find in Files" command to do something like this:

The search viewlet that you screenshotted is more for finding specific matches in the text.

As far as I know, the search in the tree is not exactly for regex searching, but for search/filtering. @joaomoreno for more insight on tree filtering?
