WHO WE ARE

MIÉRT is a youth network that unites and supports Hungarian young people in Transylvania.

MIÉRT is an umbrella organisation that connects more than 380 youth organisations across Transylvania and works to help Hungarian young people develop, make their voices heard in public life, and actively shape the present and future of their communities. Through trainings, events and advocacy, we support them in becoming value‑driven leaders, while our diverse network creates real change.

The MIÉRT Green Team Conference to Be Organized Again

For the third time, the Green Team working group of the Hungarian Youth Conference (MIÉRT) is organizing the Green Team Conference, which will take place on May 16 in Târgu Mureș. At the event, participants will gain insight into the environmental policies of the European Union. There will also be discussions about common misconceptions and the state of Romania’s forests. In addition, a robot dog that recently appeared on the streets of Târgu Mureș to promote selective waste collection will be presented. Furthermore, a team competition for high school students on the topic of sustainability will also be held. On the occasion of the third MIÉRT Green Team Conference, we spoke with Tamás Fábián, the head of the MIÉRT Green Team. Interview by Szilárd Nagy-Bodó.

Open the gates of Europe – apply for the DiscoverEU program

Until April 22, 18-year-olds can register for the DiscoverEU program, through which they can explore Europe. The initiative, which is part of the Erasmus program, supports young people's travel in Europe by train, and in certain cases by plane. DiscoverEU offers young people not only the opportunity to travel, but also to expand their knowledge, enter an intercultural community and broaden their horizons, said Szilágyi Dóra Emese, president of the Hungarian Youth Conference, MIÉRT, with whom Nagy-Bodó Szilárd also discussed the steps of the application.

Hungarian Culture Day Among Youth: A Gateway to Culture

On January 22, suddenly everyone began to feel that culture was important, even those who may rarely pick up a book and even more rarely attend cultural events spoke up in its favor. And when we talk about cultural events, it’s not worth limiting ourselves solely to high culture. That too is important, but it’s equally worthwhile to explore other forms of culture, even as an introduction. This may have been the idea behind the Hungarian Youth Conference (MIÉRT): together with the Vates Project, they organized an unconventional event on January 22, the Day of Hungarian Culture, in Cluj-Napoca at the Planetarium Café. The program featured a roundtable discussion, slam poetry, and a pub quiz about Hungarian culture, and the winners of the Culture Day photo contest were also announced.

The Hungarian Youth Conference Announces a Photo Contest

The youth organization invites submissions of photographs that present Hungarian culture from the creator’s own perspective. Anything that reflects Hungarian culture can be captured, be it folk dance, folk music, handicrafts, traditional costumes, everyday scenes of traditional life, or a unique personal interpretation. KIFOR launches the Cluj County Health Caravan!

At the initiative of KIFOR, in collaboration with the Promedical Center, the Cluj County health caravan titled “0 STEPS – Prevention for Your Health” is being launched. The program aims to make preventive information and basic healthcare services accessible to people living in rural communities as well.

Another timely question is how, amid today’s information overload, one can find the truth and stand out from the crowd. 17 November – International Students’ Day

MIÉRT’s position on the changes in education and on the development of the scholarship system. Students are key actors in the development of society, and shaping their future is our shared responsibility. This is the perspective from which we look at the changes taking place in the education system. According to a statement made today by the Minister of Education and Research, Dr Daniel David, education has gone through a difficult financial and budgetary period, but the biggest losses were avoided, so now the sector can move towards stabilisation and development.

MIÉRT held a national elective assembly on 24–25 October in Satu Mare, where delegates decided that Dóra Emese Szilágyi will remain president of MIÉRT for the next two years. The position of vice president was won by Róbert‑Zsolt Kovács.
