Smart City Hackathon: Rules and Guidelines

 

1. Eligibility: 

   - Open to individuals, teams, and startups from all backgrounds.

   - Teams can consist of up to 5 members.

   - Participants must register by the deadline of 15th October

 

 2. Registration: 

   - Each team must register on the official hackathon platform by the registration deadline.

   - Participants must provide accurate and complete information during registration.

 

3. Submission Guidelines: 

   - Report submission begins on 16th October and ends on 20th October.

   - Submissions must include a detailed project report, which should cover problem identification, solution design, technical implementation, and potential impact.

   - Final submissions should be made in PDF format via the hackathon platform.

   - Each team is allowed only one submission.

 

4. Project Requirements:

   - Projects must address one or more of the problem statements provided.

   - Solutions must be original and developed during the hackathon period.

   - Projects involving Machine Learning, AI, or software based solutions that  contribute to smart city sustainability or innovation will receive additional points .

   - Participants can use open-source tools, libraries, and APIs, but the final solution must be unique.

   - Plagiarism or use of pre-existing solutions is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

 

5. Judging Criteria:

   -Innovation: How unique and creative is the solution?

   - Impact: How well does the solution address the problem statement? What is the potential impact on urban living?

   - Feasibility: Can the solution be realistically implemented in a smart city?

   - Technical Execution: How well was the solution technically implemented? Does it demonstrate technical excellence?

   - Presentation: How clearly and effectively is the solution communicated?

 

6. Final Presentation:

   - Final presentations will take place on 30th October.

   - Each team will have 10 minutes to present their solution, followed by 5 minutes for Q&A with the judges.

   - Presentations should include a demonstration of the solution, along with the technical and impact analysis.

 

7. Intellectual Property:

   - All intellectual property rights of the solutions developed during the hackathon remain with the participants.

   - By participating, teams agree to allow the hackathon organizers to use and showcase their projects for promotional purposes.

 

8. Code of Conduct:

   - Participants are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and respect throughout the event.

   - Any form of cheating, harassment, or misconduct will result in immediate disqualification.

   - Collaboration and knowledge sharing are encouraged, but each team must submit their own original work.

 

9. Disqualification:

   - Failure to adhere to any of the rules outlined above may result in disqualification.

   - The decision of the judges and organizers will be final and binding.
