Two Chicks, Two Styles: Easter Card Inspiration

Handmade Easter Cards with Sweet Chicks | SweetMissDaisy Designs

With Easter weekend upon us, I’m sharing two cheerful handmade cards featuring the sweetest little chicks from SweetMissDaisy Designs. These playful designs overflow with spring colors, soft textures, and just the right touch of whimsy.

Even more excitement—tomorrow the design team will be sharing brand-new inspiration on Instagram for the April Release, so be sure to keep an eye out!

For my first card, I couldn’t resist this darling chick inspecting a colorful Easter egg from the Two Chicks stamp set. I paired the image with a panel from the beautiful Ditsy Florals paper pack, trimming it to 3" x 5 1/2" for a bold, eye-catching background. To frame the image, I added a stitched square die-cut, which fits the chick and egg perfectly and gives the design a clean focal point.

To finish the card, I added a “Happy Easter” sentiment from the same stamp set. I chose rich colors for the chick and egg to reflect the lively tones in the floral paper—everything ties together in such a happy, cohesive way.

Image

For my second card, I shifted to a softer, more delicate color palette using the chick and wagon from the Hey Chickie stamp set. I layered a piece of green gingham from the Spring Mini Gingham paper pack with lavender cardstock for a gentle spring feel.

The image fits beautifully inside an octagon die cut, which adds a unique shape and draws the eye right to the focal point. I topped the design with a whimsical bow for a sweet finishing touch. Beneath the image, I layered the sentiment along with a couple of pink heart-shaped enamel dots—simple details that add just the right amount of charm.

Both cards highlight how easy it is to create completely fresh looks using similar themes—just by changing your color palette and patterns.

These darling stamp sets are available now at SweetMissDaisy Designs, and they’re perfect for Easter and beyond. You can easily adapt these designs for any season by switching up your papers, colors, and sentiments.

Card-making is such a meaningful way to share creativity and send a little handmade kindness. I hope these projects inspire you to pull out your supplies and create something special this season.

A Sweet Monochromatic Bunny Card for Spring

Today I’m sharing a monochromatic bunny handmade card for spring featuring stamps and patterned paper from SweetMissDaisy Designs. This cheerful little project was inspired by two fun challenges — the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and the SSSIGChallenge — both encouraging creative interpretation and color play.

This cheerful design works beautifully as a monochromatic handmade card, a bunny spring card, or even a cute Easter card idea.

SweetMissDaisy Designs handmade cards are always such fun to create, and the adorable bunny from the I'm All Ears stamp set was perfect for a monochromatic theme. The I'm All Ears set was released earlier this month and is filled with charming images that work beautifully for spring cards, Easter cards, or sweet friendship greetings.

Cardmaking Process

To begin the card, I chose a striped pattern from the Peas & Carrots patterned paper pack by SweetMissDaisy Designs. The soft stripes create a playful background while keeping the design light and fresh for spring. I adhered the patterned paper to the card base to establish the color palette.

Next, I die-cut a stitched layer and stamped the darling bunny image from the I'm All Ears stamp set. Because the bunny fills most of the panel, the design naturally keeps the focus on the image itself. I colored him using shades of warm golden orange to create the monochromatic effect inspired by the challenge.

For a bit of detail and texture, I die-cut an intricate border twice. One border was placed along the top of the bunny panel to frame the image. The second border was trimmed and repurposed to frame the sentiment: “I carrot ’bout you.” This little detail ties the whole carrot-inspired color theme together and adds a sweet finishing touch.

The bunny looks especially adorable surrounded by all those golden carrot tones!

Image

Design Tip

Monochromatic cardmaking is a wonderful technique because it allows the image to shine while still creating visual interest through shades, layers, and textures. By simply changing the colors, stamps, or patterned papers, you can easily adapt this handmade spring card design to match your own supplies.

Cardmaking is such a meaningful way to share creativity while sending something handmade from the heart.

If you enjoy handmade spring cards, you might also like my projects Little Stinker and Happy to Be Among Flowers which both feature cheerful golden tones.

I hope this project inspires you to try making monochromatic handmade spring cards of your own!

Spring Cheer & Winter Smiles: Four Cards to Brighten Your Day

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to share four handmade cards today for the SweetMissDaisy Designs February Release, celebrating the changing seasons from spring into winter.  We’ll tiptoe into spring with the first three cards and finish things off with a cheerful winter scene.

First up is the sweetest little chick pulling a cart loaded with one ginormous Easter egg. I paired this darling image with a soft lavender pattern from the Ditsy Floral Paper Pack for a gentle spring feel. Behind the image, I stamped the Penelope’s Garden text background on white cardstock and trimmed it down into a smaller layer. This stamp is a personal favorite; it provides a charming book-paper aesthetic, eliminating the need to search for vintage pages, and you can stamp it in any hue to coordinate with your project. I finished the card with a fun sentiment from the Hey Chickie set: Hope you have an Egg-ceptional Easter.

Next is a birthday card featuring the most adorable chipmunk from the Chippy stamp set. I stamped him on an arch and used the out-of-the-box (partial die-cutting) technique so the tip of his fluffy tail could hang right over the edge of the arch for a playful touch. A bold red arch behind the image really makes it pop. I added one of the sweet butterflies near the daffodil — I love having little extras like butterflies to build a scene. The background is another beautiful Ditsy Florals pattern layered on a red card base, and a simple happy birthday sentiment completes the card!

My third card brings us right back to spring with another darling chick, from the Two Chicks set, this one carrying a pink flower. So sweet! I used a soft blue floral from the Ditsy Florals Paper Pack for the background, then layered in the Penelope’s Garden text background once again. The image sits front and center, with a scalloped circle sentiment reading
Blessings to You for a gentle finishing touch. Pure spring cuteness.

Today's cards use products from the SweetMissDaisy Designs February Release, which includes charming spring images, a versatile background stamp, beautiful spring papers, and a playful snowman.

As promised, we’re heading back to winter for the final card. This cheerful, Dashing Snowman is full of personality and color! I built the background with layered strips: a white stitched panel, a wide strip from the Winter Blues Paper Pack, a narrower strip stamped with the Penelope’s Garden text background, and a petite banner from the Spring Mini Gingham Paper Pack. The snowman, stamped on a stitched square and colored in rich purples, zooms downhill on a bright red sled. The sentiment Oh What Fun! says it all. A few die-cut snowflakes with sequin centers add a festive finishing sparkle.

Hearts For You

Hello, creative friends! 🎨✉️

I’m excited to be hosting this week’s F4All Challenge, and we’re featuring postage on our projects! For my design, I used a large postage stamp die to frame the cutest bunny ever—and trust me, this little one will steal your heart! 💕

I stamped and colored the darling Heart Banner Bunny and framed her with a large Postage Stamp die for a fun, mail-inspired look. I used a small postage stamp die to frame the sentiment to tie it all together—because even the tiniest details make a difference!

The Heart Banner Bunny and the LOVE paper pack are available at the SweetMissDaisy Designs Etsy Shop, so be sure to check them out!

For my coloring, I followed the Art Nudge 225A challenge palette—the perfect guide to bring this sweet bunny to life! 🎨🐰

No Place Like Gnome & More - IO March Release & Hop

We are headed outdoors with the IO March Release!

First, we are headed outdoors with the new Gnome Sayings set! I placed the adorable gnome in a nature scene using the Hundred Acre Wood stamp and gave him a flower to hold. Lastly, I also stamped the gnome saying on a Rounded Corner Sentiment 2 label.

Image

Another great set in this release is the Grow stamp set, it's perfect for gardening fans. I used the Crazy Stitched Set to cut a layer, then stenciled the scene with the Cloud Grass Scene Stencil and Edgers Stencil. The next step was to stamp the wheelbarrow and fussy-cut the pitcher.

Image

Here is another sample of the adorable Grow stamp set. This time I focused on the chickens in the set! I used the same stencils as listed above to set the stage. The background paper is from the Quilted Grunge Paper Pack. Lastly, I added a sentiment from the previously released Thought Bubbles set.

This is also for the SCS Inspiration Challenge!

A Joyful Spring - Product Focus - Dies

Hello everyone, this month's focus is on crafting dies. I love how they make layout building fun and easy. I'm not great at fussy cutting, so I really appreciate stamp sets that have coordinating die sets. Sentiment dies are among my favorites, as they fit the scene precisely without using a large chunk of negative space. Lastly, layering dies give a beautifully finished edge to the design. I created a card using dies in all the ways I just mentioned and had a blast doing so. Below, you'll find a list of supplies I used.
