To ensure diverse skill sets within teams, we strongly recommend forming teams with multiple members.
Participants can choose to register as a team from the start, with each member applying individually.
Prior to the event, engage with our Discord forum to vote on ideas and connect with potential teammates.
On Day 1 of the event, participants have the opportunity to connect with one another and form teams.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
Projects must be newly created specifically for this hackathon; no prior work is permitted.
Projects should focus on one of the main tracks or sponsor tracks.
Participants can utilize any SDK they want. Projects aiming for the main tracks (Meta sponsored) must use the Meta SDK (Presence Platform).
The use of any headset is allowed, but the main track entries must use Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest 3.
Paid software assets (e.g. art, audio), third-party SDKs or APIs, and paid design tools (e.g. Adobe CC, Solid Works) are permitted if participants are authorized to use them in accordance with any terms and conditions or licensing requirement of the tool.
Participants must list paid software assets, third-party SDKs or APIs, and paid design tools in the project code and during the project submission.
Source code developed during the hackathon must be open source and licensed under a license listed on https://opensource.org/licenses. The chosen license must be clearly stated in the code.
All ideas generated or discussed during the hackathon are considered public domain. Therefore, participants should refrain from discussing ideas they may want to patent or copyright.
All projects must be submitted by the designated deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted for judging.
All projects violating the Code of Conduct will automatically be disqualified.
JUDGING CRITERIA AND WINNER SELECTION
Judging will take place in two rounds, where eligible submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Round One: Projects will be evaluated on a pass/fail basis to determine if they reasonably align with the chosen theme and utilize the required SDK (if applicable; see "Project Requirements").
Round 2: Submissions that successfully pass Round One will undergo evaluation in Round Two, where they will be assessed based on the following equally weighted criteria:
Compelling Concept (1-6): The extent to which the experience offers an engaging and captivating idea that intrigues and excites users.
Innovation (1-6): The degree to which the project introduces fresh and original ideas.
Quality/Implementation (1-6): How well the project is executed, considering factors like functionality, usability, and attention to detail.
Packaging (1-6): The overall presentation of the project including the text description, images, and video quality as stated in the submission requirements.
Judges' scores will determine the potential winners of prizes. Participants eligible for a prize, whose submissions earn the highest overall scores based on the judging criteria, will be considered potential winners of that prize.
Winners may be required to handle tax obligations in their respective countries.
