Sync fails after renaming a local folder with owncloudcmd #12400
I checked for similar issues, but could not find any. I also checked the closed issues. I could not contribute additional information to any existing issue.
I will take the time to fill in all the required fields. I know that the bug report may be dismissed otherwise due to lack of information.
Describe the bug
When attempting to move or rename a local directory that has been previously synchronized to a Space using the owncloudcmd command, the synchronization process fails to properly update the remote Space.
Expected behavior
owncloudcmd should detect that the local directory has been renamed or moved and update the corresponding folder in the Space accordingly. The synchronization should complete successfully without creating duplicates or leaving orphaned entries on the server.
Steps to reproduce the issue
Synchronize a local directory to a folder in a Space using the command: owncloudcmd --non-interactive -u USER -p TOKEN --server https://ocis.owncloud.com /PATH/LOCAL 'https://WebDav_URL_SPACE' REMOTE_FOLDER_IN_SPACE
Rename a local directory
Retry the synchronization

It's a Kubernetes deployment using the ocis-charts repository. I've reviewed the main microservices (proxy, storageusers) but haven't found anything relevant. Which microservice should I review?
Thanks for the help @kobergj I also didn’t find anything relevant in the ocdav service. Do you have the option to reproduce the issue in your own environment? The issue occurs when files are renamed or moved, and if you attempt a second synchronization, those files are added to the blacklist. I have tested this behavior with the owncloud client and in that case it worked as expected, it only seems to happen with owncloudcmd.

Please double check the server logs why the MOVE failed.

@mangelft please check
ocdavservice. It contains the http handlers for file operations. It should log an error.Note:
409 Conflictis usually thrown when trying to move a folder to one of it's children (or parents) or when the destination folder does not exist.mangelft commentedon Nov 14, 2025

Which client OS is this? Also, are there any non-ascii characters (e.g. with diacritic symbols) in the names?
