Descendant's Themed Birthday Party

My daughter wanted a Descendants birthday party when she turned 8. She was so easy-to-please which was awesome. I was able to buy some Descendants items from Party City. Here's how it looked all set up...

For her friend party, I set out some healthy, kid-friendly snacks for the kids...

Juice mixed with sprite, and some bottled water for drinks...

Image

I found some wrapping paper for the water bottles that matched our theme colours...

We had some of the Evil Queen's apples set out for decor as well...

My daughter asked for dipped pretzels and I set those out with some adorable cookies I found...

Image

Simple cupcakes for the win! I also made more for her to take to school on her birthday and more for her actual birthday and party with extended family. 6 dozen cupcakes to bake and decorate!

Image

We had her extended family party on her actual 8th birthday, following her Baptism, so it was a busy day! She wanted her fave meal: hot dogs!

Drinks for the family party...

I had this tray of treats out with cupcakes, including some treats to meet dietary restrictions of extended family...

I did simple treats for the treat bags for her friend party. I avoided the cheap party toys since I myself tend to throw those away soon after my kids get them. Candy at least can be eaten and then it's done.

That ended up being one of the easiest parties to put together for my kids, which ended up being a huge blessing as I was super-sick leading up to her birthday. Simple was wonderful.

Video Game Themed Birthday Party

My son turned 10 last December and he picked a video game theme for his birthday. We focused on XBOX and the black and green colours. It was fun to put together!

X is for XBOX...

We had the boxes from our XBOX consoles in the basement, so we set those out...

Image

Put our original XBOX out as well...

Image

I had a chalkboard banner that I wrote "GAME ON" on...

Image

Image

My husband's childhood Super Nintendo and games were on display as well...

Image

I had the Minecraft Happy Birthday banner, the Game On chalkboard banner, and then I had a banner I made with images from classic video games and more current ones that I found online and printed off...

Image

For the pizza at the family party, I made printables to label what each kind of pizza was...

Image

I covered the bottles of pop in black and white wrapping paper and labeled those as well. I found the Nintendo controller bottle labels online and printed those off for the water bottles...

Image

Image

Simple "X" cupcakes that looked like the XBOX symbol...

Image

My son loved it all!

Image

For his friend party, I did similar food, just for less people.

Image

I labeled the pizza boxes again at his friend party. He wanted to just have a few friends over to play video games, of course! :)

Image

Image

For party favours, the kids each got a Minecraft cup with a chocolate bar with the Nintendo controller wrap on it...

Image

Image

Image

I added out a few more treats at his friend party since it was a bunch of kids...

Image

Image

Green Jello as "Gamer Jello"...

Image

Skittles as "Power-Ups"...

Image

The Oreos with mint green icing in the middle for "Gamer Oreos"...

Image

I did the same cupcakes for his friend party...

Image

For his real birthday when it was just our family, he wanted an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and they even had a Minecraft one!

Image

I really enjoyed putting this party together for my son.
He totally loved it, which makes it all worthwhile!
