Hi there !!

Loooooong time no see!
Summer is ending, winter is coming...and with that, lots and lots of cold and rainy afternoons (yuk !) to make art ( yesss!!)
I haven't been posting on my blog for a while; I have the feeling that somehow Facebook is taking over blogging a bit....at least for me that surely is the case.
But I will really try to go for more regular blogging from now on !

So let's do a little update here of what I've been doing in Artland lately:

I've 'returned' to working with my Inktense pencils once more. Too long since I've used those ! And I do really like to doodle & play with color ! So I've been making these mandala's :

 

And some have a little bit of collage:

p.s. After coming Wednesday prints of my mandala's will be available in my Etsy store ! I'm sooo happy, I finallly found a printshop that cán actually print these bold Inktense colors !
You can't even see which one is the original and which one is printed. Totally happy with that :)

Hi there!

Heel tevreden ben ik met deze journal page (terwijl ik eerst nog dacht dat ik de verkeerde kleuren bij elkaar had gezocht...)En de tekst komt me recht uit 't hart! Heb immers zelf veel te lang gewacht met tekenen, schilderen enzovoort (alleen maar omdat je dan denkt dat je het toch niet kan of jezelf er de tijd niet voor gunt...)

I'm very satisfied with how this page turned out (whereas in the beginning I thought I had combined the wrong colors...) And the text on this page is right from the heart! Cause I myself waited far too long with my artmaking (why?? because I didn't feel good enough, did not give myself the time for it ...all the usual I guess)

Oh, en ik heb nog een mini mandalaatje gemaakt gisteren.
Oh, and I made another mini mandala yesterday.

Mini mandala's in black and white...

In mijn laatste post beloofde ik jullie foto's van mijn zwart-wit doedels, dus ..hier zijn ze:
In my last post I promised to show you my black and white doodles, so..here they are:

Hoezeer ik ook hou van werken in (heel veel) kleur, toch ben ik ook gek op het werken in zwart-wit. Deze heb ik gemaakt met een 'gewone' vulpen. Kleine verhaaltjes in een soort mini mandala vorm. Ik begin gewoon met een soort ronde vorm en een paar lijnen en dan komt het plaatje' vanzelf...

As much as I love to work with (lots of) color, I'm also very much attracted to working in black and white. These I made with a normal fountain pen. Little stories in a sort of mandala form. I just start these with making a sort of rounded form and some lines, and then the 'story' unfolds like that...

Hi you all!!!

Hope everyone is still enjoying these last beautiful days of summer!! Although school/ work etc etc has begun again, there's still enough time inbetween (luckily) to enjoy the sunshine & being outside...
I've been really busy catering for customers, setting up new workshops, preparing a new workspace at my house where workshops can be given, attending a market and, most of all...making art!

I've also been making lots of doodle drawings, but as they are so very different from the above mixed media things, I'll talk about them in my next post ( and I promise I won't stay away too long this time !!)

Sneeuwvlok zendala/ snowflake zenala

Hi all,

Zo, het einde van de zomervakantie is in zicht....Overmorgen begint de school weer hier en gaat het 'normale'leven weer beginnen. Gisteren nog lekker een middag aan het strand geweest (geen zon, wel warm , echt hollands). Vandaag is echt een grijze zondag..., maar wel goed om lekker te zitten tekenen enzo, haha !!
Van de week heb ik nog deze sneeuwvlok-zendala gemaakt (alle stapjes staan eronder..)

Well, the end of Summer holidays has come...Day after tomorrow school begins again for my girls, and we'll return to 'normal' life.
Yesterday we spent a wonderful afternoon on the beach (no sun, but warm, real dutch wheather). And today it's just a grey Sunday..., but great for drawing and such, haha!
Last week I made another snowflake zendala (above); all the inbetween steps are below:

Snowflake zendala

Weet je nog, vroeger op school: sneeuwvlokken knippen uit papier? Deze techniek kom je regelmatig tegen voor het maken van een 'stencil' voor zendala's.

Dit was mijn 'sneeuwvlok':

En dit is de zendala nog 'n keer, in zwart-wit:

Do you remember how, at school, you used to make these snowflakes, cut out from paper? This technique is used a lot for making zendala templates.
You trace the template on your drawing paper, add and/or substract a few lines and then you start tangling!

Even snel een berichtje om 2 zendala's te posten die ik net heb gemaakt. Zometeen ga ik lekker naar de hei met Sjaak; hij lekker rondrennen en spelen met andere honden en ik....op 'n heuveltje in de zon!!!!!



Just a quick post showing 2 small (CD size) zendala's I made, each with a little bit of collage. Now I'm quickly off to go for a long walk with my dog Sjakie; that is: he'll do the walking and running about with other dogs and I'll be sitting in the sun (which is finally there!!!)

Even een update'je van dingetjes die ik gemaakt heb de afgelopen week:

Zendala with collage





Over deze laatste had ik heel veel twijfels of ik 'm zou kleuren of niet (en eigenlijk heb ik er nu een beetje spijt van, haha..)

Of this last one I wasn't sure whether to color it or not... (actually now I'm a bit sorry that I did...)

Ben benieuwd of er de rest van de week veel van tekenen etc. komt; ben nl. druk bezig met (jaja) de grote lente-opruiming!! De hele zolder/ vliering moet leeg, dus dat betekent heel veel weggeven, weggooien, naar de kringloop, op marktplaats etc etc.
Mijn jongste verhuist dan van haar (kleine) kamer naar de zolder, haar kamer wordt vervolgens kantoor van echtgenoot en dat alles brengt grote verhuizingen van kasten e.d, met zich mee!
Maar zo'n grote opruiming brengt ook veel ruimte in je hoofd!!

Spring zendala

Hi all!!

Ben alweer een hele tijd terug van vakantie, maar ben te druk geweest om te bloggen!! De vakantie was trouwens super, écht, mooier kan niet : perfecte sneeuw en een hele week heerlijke zon !!! Meer kun je je niet wensen.
Lijkt inmiddels alweer een eeuwigheid geleden dat we in de bergen waren, daar zorgt de 'normale' drukte wel voor...
Heb inmiddels wel weer pen & papier weten te vinden; ben druk aan 't tekenen/ zentanglen. Dit is mijn laatste zendala:



Lekker vrolijk toch?! Laat nu de lente maar komen!

It's been a while since we came back from holiday, but I've just been to busy to blog!! Holidays were really great, couldn't have been better: perfect snow and a whole week of sunshine !! What more could you wish for?
It seems like ages ago though, that we were in the snowy mountains; 'normal' life takes care of that...
Did manage to put pencil to paper in the meantime: have been making some drawings & zentangles. Above is my latest zendala and here is the B&W version:



Now we're all hoping for spring to arrive!

Eindelijk.../ finally....!

Hi allemaal,

Zo, eindelijk zit ik weer 'ns op mijn blog! Schaam me dood, heb het schandelijk verwaarloosd! Maar ja , soms heb je het gewoon té druk met andere dingen en komt het er niet van...
In ieder geval zie ik dat ik sinds december niets meer heb gepost; ik weet dat het al ver in januari is, maar desalniettemin: allemaal nog een heel mooi & artistiek jaar gewenst!!!!

Well, finally I'm blogging again! I feel so ashamed, have been neglecting it terribly!! But that's how it is..., sometimes you're just to be busy with other things and you just can't find the time for blogging...
Anyway, I noticed that my last post was from december; now I know that January is almost gone, but still: I'm wishing all of you a beautiful & artful year!

Thought these two new drawings would make a nice colorful beginning of my blogging in 2013.

Made this last one with (blown) indian ink, colored ink (ecoline) and colored pencil.

Zendala

Hi all,

Hmmm, zit niet echt mee deze winter...afgelopen dagen was ik weer geveld door koorts en keelontsteking! Dus de sneeuwpret is verder een beetje aan mij voorbijgegaan.
Gelukkig gaat het nu weer wat beter (één bijkomend voordeel, door de keelpijn kon ik nauwelijks eten, dus.... tweeënhalf kilo eraf!)
Vandaag nog rustig aan gedaan en lekker zitten tekenen:

Hmmm, I'm not réally lucky this winter... been at home this last week with fever & laryngitis! So haven't enjoyed the snow much, pity!
Luckily I feel much better now (and... one advantage, though unintended: I lost two and a half kilo's, thanks to not being able to eat!)
Had one more quiet day today and did some drwaing.

Mixed media flowers

Hi,

Wat 'n sneeuw valt er opeens!! Prachtig toch (als je tenminste niet de weg op moet...)
Echt Sinterklaas- en Kerstweer. Ben nog druk bezig met inpakken van cadeautjes en maken van gedichtjes; we vieren het morgen pas.
Vorige week heb ik toch maar weer 's kwast en doek gepakt en een (soort van) mandala op 30x30 canvas gemaakt. Combi van collage en acrylverf.

Such snow falling down all of a sudden!! Beautiful (at least.. if you don't have to be on the road..) Real Christmas weather.
Last week I decided to pick up brush & canvas once again and I made a (sort of) mandala on 30x30cm canvas. Combi of collage and acrylic paint.

Ah, daughter's home, I'm off to throw snowballs!

Uiltjesliefde/ love for owls...

Hi there,

Wat is dat toch, dat tegenwoordig overal maar uiltjes opduiken? Mijn dochters zijn gek van oorbellen met uiltjes, uiltjes-ringen, uiltjes-kettingen...Ook op Etsy stikt het van de uiltjes-dessins, schilderijen met uilen etc.
Zelf merk ik ook dat ze vaak 'opduiken' in mijn werk.

Omdat we denken dat ze zo wijs zijn misschien?? Of omdat ze er ook zo 'fluffy' en lief uit kunnen zien?
Ook in deze mandala kwamen ze weer tevoorschijn:

What is it, that fascination nowadays for everything 'owly' ? My daughters both love earrings with owls, owl-rings, owl necklaces..And if you look on Etsy f.e. you'll find lots of owl designs, owl paintings and such..
Well, I love them too and I find they 'show up' a lot in the things I make.

Because we think they look so wise perhaps? Or because they can also look so fluffy and sweet?
Anyway, they happen to be there again in this mandala I made recently.

En rond en rond.../ And round and round...

Hi there,

Vanmorgen met een vriendin de hele ochtend zitten tekenen. We hebben afgesproken om dit voortaan elke dinsdagochtend te doen (als het werk het toelaat tenminste...); samen creatief bezig zijn is leuker dan alleen! En misschien sluiten zich meer mensen bij ons groepje aan.
Heb deze mandala gemaakt, op A4 papier:

Spent the whole morning drawing with a friend. We made an appointment to do this every Tuesday, from now on (if work allows it of course....); because being creative together is a lot more fun than always working on your own. And may be others will join too. Made the "Frida" mandala, on A4 paper.

Vlinders/ butterflies...

Hi all,

Op deze regenachtige dag wilde ik maar 's een mandala posten die een beetje aan zomer doet denken; eentje met vlinders. Onlangs gemaakt op groot formaat papier (32x40cm).

On this rainy day I thought I'd post a mandala that reminds a bit of summer; one with butterflies. I made it recently on big format paper (32x40cm)

Ik ga zeker wat meer uitproberen met deze techniek: inkt,ecoline, collages & doodles.
I'm certainly going to experiment more with this technique: combining collage, ink, colored ink and doodles.
The quote in the mandala is from H.C. Andersen:
"Just living is not enough", said the butterfly, "one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower".


Verder ga ik deze druilerige dag maar eens gebruiken om flink op te ruimen, er zijn weer teveel plekken in huis ontstaan waar de rommel zich 'ophoopt'!!
Furthermore I think I'm going to use this gloomy day to do some serious cleaning up; to many spots in this household where 'things' start piling up!!

Dat is de titel van mijn nieuwste mandala. Heb weer lekker vrolijke kleuren gebruikt (ecoline) om mezelf een beetje op te vrolijken; ben namelijk snipverkouden.

Believe in your dreams and they will come true. That's the title of my latest mandala. I hvae used some happy (ink)colors again to cheer myself up a bit; you see, I'm having this terrible cold..
