The Long Weekend

Image

We've had a lovely long weekend, a mini break.
There are lots of things I should have done and could have done but the weather was perfect for the beach.
We spent time with family in particular the 7 month old, he loves the water but is not sure about the sand, especially the taste.
Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend.

Home Again

Image

It's been a busy couple of weeks.
Sue and I spent a wonderful week together at the Field Days with all her gorgeous handcrafted treasure, we caught up with old friends and made some new ones.

Then mum and I popped over to Melbourne for the National Sports Aerobics and managed to see the Tutankhamun exhibition which was amazing.

In between there was a bit of wandering and shopping.

We saw "Love never Dies" absolutely fabulous.

and had lots of coffee breaks!
The South Australian girls came home with medals of every colour.

Now I just need to catch up on some sleep!

Happy Day

Image

We attended a family christening yesterday and is was a fabulous day.
Baby slept through the event, the weather was perfect and it was great to see my cousins that we don't get to see very often.
The christening gown is now 47 years old and this little tot was number 20, 21 is due in October.
As the family is spread far and wide this little gown has traversed Australia and still looks wonderful.

A Wedding

Image

We had a fabulous day attending my cousins wedding even through there was a slight hicup as we arrived at the wrong church and the wrong wedding. Several phone calls and some very helpful people we arrived at the right church just before the bride.

The bride looked radiant,

and bubbles are the new confetti.

It's always wonderful to catch up with family and friends for a happy occasion.

A Busy Week

Image
Christmas Day was a lovely family event and even my mother said I "really excelled myself"!
The only small hiccup of the day was all being locked outside, it must have been the only moment that no one was inside for the whole day. Yes it was me who was pushed through the lounge room window. At least we weren't arrested for break and enter!
Santa squeezed the presents down the chimney so there were plenty of treats for everyone including lots of chocolate.
The highlight of the day was the chocolate pooing reindeer, from 6 to 80 and everyone in between was in fits of laughter.
I hope everyone had a magical Christmas.
I need to sort out my room as it's become a dumping ground for all the bits and pieces over the last few days.

Melbourne

Image
Image
I have just returned from a week in Melbourne.
Mum and I went to see her grand daughter, my niece, who was selected for SA Sport Aerobics Team, compete in the National Championships.
My mum hasn't been to Melbourne for over 50 years, she loved it and can't wait to go again.
In between competitions we managed a little shopping on Chappel Street, OK so my suit case gained 4 kilos!
South Australia did a great job with a small team of only 22 competitors they won 2 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
Late nights and early mornings don't mix, I think I need a weeks sleep to recover from all the exercise.

Sport

Image

Miss Lilly only likes sport on TV, she's not really the out doors type!

Image
We spent the day cheering at 2 junior netball grand finals ~ both won.
Then raced off to motor cross to cheer the last race day of the season.
As they are only small the bikes sound like bumble bees but they managed to produce a lot of dust!

Very Vintage ~ Day 30

Image
Yesterday mum and I ventured to Adelaide for the "Way we Wear Fair".
This was our 3rd fair and we still loved every minute of it.
I love old treasures and clothes they were made so well and the fabrics are just beautiful.
We had lots of lovely conversations with strangers reminiscing about our mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers in respect to the displays.
Button up boots, gosh they must have had small feet!
Lace up corsets, I don't know how they managed to breathe.
The days when every woman carried a compact and discreetly powdered their nose in the powder room.
This blue self patterned dress just called my name, I tried to resist but it was useless!
