Gao Gao MG 1/100 Destiny (Preview)

Image
Price: RM50++ (Area Dependent)

Got this a while ago and built it slowly. I haven't even put the clear stickers and/or decals on it even. (Well, I haven't even put em' on Deathscythe Hell Custom either...) I have to admit, the quality and ease of build of bootlegs has been on the rise lately and Gao Gao is not excluded. I won't say it is a breeze to build these, but the frustrations of parts not fitting well are almost nonexistent lately. Loose or tighter than usual parts do still occur but more on tighter so it may or may not be beneficial in the end. You will still need a bit of sanding at times. I only needed it at the launcher's moving scope for this one. I even dared to play with the linked joint movement of the scope/handle of the launcher and it seems quite capable here. Hope it stays that way at any rate.

Image
Image
Quite accurate to the original I believe with minor loss to detail. Just noticed that the red piece by the neck was loose in some shots. It does easily get knocked out when I think about it.

Image
Image
Haven't fully tested out the limits of holding the weapons, specifically the Arondight, but it looks promising thus far. =)

Image
A great kit overall which I feel, after building it just now, would be more satisfying with its wings of light. If possible, I highly suggest those who wants to get a MG Destiny, whether original or bootleg, to get the Extreme Blast Mode version. Slightly more expensive but I feel it would be greatly satisfying for Destiny fans.

Yes, there is a RG Destiny coming out soon. Since the wings of light are a limied part, I don't particularly have the desire to get it. It looks slightly short too, in more ways than one, which is rather disappointing to me.

Until the next post~

Gao Gao (TT Hongli) MG Destiny

Image
My Gunplaying days are as slow as ever but recently I've built this bootleg Destiny. So far in the process, the overall build quality is good, very decent actually. More on that later?

Maybe I should have gone with Extreme Burst Mode since it was around 50% more expensive than this normal version.

For those who still visit this partly dead blog, what misadventures have you got into recently?

PS: Happy New Year!

Striking Filler

One week left for my break and I realized I haven't done what I've promised to do so I'm gonna toil away on some responsibilities for a while again... I blame my frequent outings lately. Can drive, have car then spend too much time outside. D=

At any rate... has anyone watched the rather mind**** BRS anime series thus far?

MG 1/100 Strike Gundam Update

Image

Image
I wonder if there will be a MG Strike Gundam 2.0 soon?

Decided to update my first MG after getting a bit of motivation from it due to some mention. Tried to fix some parts up, especially the scratch-built crystal forehead piece and rear-skirt armor, but can't really work it out nicely. Forehead crystal is rough but maybe I can still smooth-en and shape it some more later. Rear-skirt armor is pretty much a hassle to put back in one piece since the joints are now weak to any waist movement causing it to split again so I think I'll leave the back bare. ^^;;;

While at it, I decided to try out some dry-transfer decals. To my amazement, they are actually easier than I expected. Then again, Strike's decals aren't that big to apply like some certain ones like the Wing Ver. Ka. I did mess up one by accident though - by taping the wrong side. >>;;;

Image
Took out the sword from the IWSP Striker to make it look more intimidating standing there.

Image
Lost the forehead crystal a long time ago so I did a quick, fat, scratch-built one from the leftover runners but now shaped it down to a more accurate shape.

Image
Other than the standard dry-transfer decals, I stuck in some of the clear stickers at a minimal amount as some sections of the white armor has turn yellowish over the years.

Image
Even without the rear-skirt armor, I don't think it looks half-bad.

Image
Wasted one of the shoulder armor decals so I did the next best thing - put a Bandai decal.

Image
I admit one thing about this Gundam, it is my main favorite next to Aegis in SEED. Freedom is cool and all but I like how this Gundam got portrayed along with Kira's hardships as he grows through the series... before he became hax.

Image
At the advent of MG Aile Strike Gundam 2.0, I leave a shot of the MG Strike Gundam IWSP here.

Until the next post~
PS: All photos hosted by Facebook. That's why there are no watermarks on them as well as I directly uploaded from my phone as I updated it yesterday. ^^;

Gao Gao MG 1/100 Deathscythe Hell Custom Review - Part 1

Image
Price: RM7X (varies)

I initially wanted to get an original Bandai one much earlier on but budget was focused more to my gaming needs so this is what resulted from it. I actually almost completely skipped this gem of a Gundam. Truth be told, I would still want the original but I'll leave that to a time when my funds are plentiful again for Gunpla. Nonetheless, this bootleg is actually worth-while to build as Gao Gao (AKA TT Hongli) keeps on stepping their game up.

Note: Will add on some more in a while.

EDIT (2/2/12): Manual scans can be found HERE.

Read on!

Gao Gao MG Deathscythe Hell Custom Finished!

Image
Will try to add all the applicable clear stickers and dry transfer decals later plus sime touch-ups.

Took me a while to complete any Gunpla or even update this blog lately. Ever since I was brave enough to drive, I've been going out lots. That truly took a toll on my schedule as night outings can go past midnight. Well, AGE-1N image processing is done but will take some time before I can type it due to unforseen circumstances with my mouth. Dentist tomorrow. ._.;

That's all for now.

3D Photo Fun

Image

Using the site above, you can also upload .mpo 3D photos like the ones captured by the 3DS. If you can view 3D, download the .mpo files for best effect. =)

AGE-1N on de way~ Just need to haul my laziness away first. That and my friends and I are planning a BBQ this New Year Eve. Rain, please don't come on that day. =X

April Get! Part 1

I'm getting something else this month also, you can call it a PC Fair get. I'll put it up once it arrives at my doorstep. :P
ImageA friend of mine offered his GG Arios for RM10, second hand. Technically it is the leftover parts from the GG Arios GNHW/M as he took the weapons and base only. I was like, just get it. XP
(Sadly the mid-torso section went missing somehow. I think I dropped it when checking the contents before getting it or it could have been lost before. It isn't such a big deal so I'll patch up a new mid-section later on.)

ImageSince he works at Heng Kim Trading, I decided to grab a few other stuff as well such as this set of saws. Hehe, now I can cut some parts up. :)

As for the GG MG Destiny, I'll be building it first when I have enough free time and then it will be slated for the "Destiny End" diorama... eventually. The earliest for it to be realized could be sometime end of next year. ^^;

About the GG Arios's fate... I'll make another post about it soon-ish but most of you should have seen it on FB already. Lightning.

More to come soon~

MG 1/100 Shining Gundam Review - Part 2

ImageThis is a continuation of part 1 here.

Sorry for the lateness of this second and final part. I was occupied with a certain MMO Close Beta 2 and last night I've finally started playing Mass Effect 2. I'll still be occupied after this as I'm pretty hooked with ME2 for the time being, I really like how the interactions and the story is panning out. ^^;

I won't say the photo taking session for the Shining Gundam was perfect however, I made a few mistakes especially at the legs for the transformation. I'll tell you what it is as you read on. I don't really have the mood to fix them since there are too many pictures to retake if I want "perfect" shots.

Okay, read on for the articulation, gimmicks, action, comparisons and conclusion!

Note: There are some Youtube videos embedded into this post. Only watch them if you dare to be spoiled (unless you've seen the series).

MG 1/100 Shining Gundam Review - Part 1

ImagePrice: 2500 Yen*
*This is one of the cheapest prices you will ever get for a MG Gundam. FYI, the cheapest MG is the MG Ball Ver. Ka. at 2000 Yen.This MG was made in 2002. Thus, it may not be as good as what we are getting lately.

I actually built this a few days back but a new online game caught my attention due to a fellow blogger. I haven't photoshoot for the second part either so that one will most probably be done by next week. Slow, I know. Ah well, life is not all about Gunpla. XD

I also bought this quite a while back last year. So far back, it is almost a year I had this one with me. Well, its already built now, so there is no more problems there. Minus one backlog. To be completely honest, I planned to build the HG Seravee GNHW/B but this one was calling out to me to build it sooner than planned (planned to be after Seravee). I manage to grab it for a nice price of RM80 which is considerably reasonable and the cheapest MG I've bought so far. I wanted to grab MG Master Gundam as well but didn't in the end which was similarly priced as a way to pair them up. I missed my chance however so well, looks like I won't be getting MG Master Gundam, not anytime soon anyways.

Specifications;
Model No.: GF13-017NJ
Pilot: Domon Kasshu
Height: 16.2m
Weight: 6.8t~15.5t (that's kinda unrealistic....)
Armaments: Vulcan Gun - Head (2), Beam Sword - Left Side Waist (2), Machine Cannon - Chest (2), Shining Shot - Hands (2)
Ultimate Attacks: Shining Finger, Shining Finger Sword
More at MAHQ.

Story Brief;
Domon Kasshu is a representative of Neo Japan in the 13th Gundam Fight. His Gundam is Shining Gundam which signature attack is the Shining Finger. Shining Gundam can power up by being fueled by anger, a negative emotion, to go into Super Mode. This is a double edge sword for Domon. He later used a different method, by calming his mind, to power up the Shining Gundam even further than when he used his fury.

MG 1/100 Turn A Gundam Review

ImagePrice: 3800 Yen

I actually wanted to review this one a while back but seeing as I was short on time due to being busy with University and all, it didn't happen. So, since my semester break hasn't ended yet, I already planned or felt that I will review or re-review some of my model kits before I get busy again. XP

FYI, I bought this around February last year as my second MG! Thus, this is like some sort of anniversary post. XD

Specifications;
Model No.: WD-M01
Pilot: Loran Cehack/Laura Rola
Height: 20.0m
Weight: 28.6m
More here at MAHQ.

My Take on Turn A;
Turn A is the ultimate Gundam but will only present its full power when it is piloted by a Newtype. According to the "Dark History", Turn A used 30% of its full power to completely destroy all technology on Earth with its signature attack - Moonlight Butterfly. This destruction caused the world to reset to what you see in the Turn A series going back to something like a 17-18th-century-like-world.

It was later found by Loran during his coming of age ceremony after the descent of the Moonrace soldiers. It doesn't debut until the second episode unlike most Gundams and does not "pwn everything in sight" like your average Gundam war machine.

For more about the Turn A, watch the anime! Note: Loran doesn't even use more than 10% of the Turn A's capabilities by story end (IIRC)!

MG 1/100 Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd Revise Review - Part 3

Image
Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners & Building Process
Part 2: Height Comparisons, Articulation, Gimmicks, Action & Conclusion
Part 3: Additional Review - MG VS NG, Backpack Adapter (First Batch Item)

Sorry if this one took a while to be finished. I actually can finish it not long after part 2 was done but I was initially hoping that I would've gotten one of the NG VS Astrays by now. Sadly, I just couldn't make myself purchase those uber lame rehashes even though they sell for RM85 at a shop... they are just so not worth it... OTL.

Nonetheless, I'll at least be able to play around one backpack adapter but if you have seen my review on the Strike Noir, it might bore you. Basically the same stuff there. ^^;
However, if you want to see some Dalong-ish comparisons between NG and Mg, please read on. =)

TT Hongli MG 1/100 Strike Noir Review - Part 2

Image
Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners, Manual Scans & Building
Part 1.5: Clear Stickers & Decals
Part 2: Articulation, Gimmicks, Action and Conclusion

Time for yet another finisher to something I think many of you are curious about! Is this bootleg MG good or bad?! Read on to find out the conclusion!

A total of 98 shots with no edits what-so-ever (Sorry, no story this time, as 1/100s are harder to do.)!

TT Hongli MG 1/100 Strike Noir Review - Part 1.5

ImageImage(Before & After)

Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners, Manual Scans & Building
Part 1.5: Clear Stickers & Decals
Part 2: Articulation, Gimmicks, Action and Conclusion

This is a first! A part 1.5 review! OMG! I never done this before but to tell you all the truth, I just can't complete the review of this kit just yet. Since I'm done with the experiment which is to test out the clear stickers and decals of TT Hongli, I decided to put it up first, for the benefit of you all. ^^

The reason why I can't really photoshoot the Strike Noir completely is that my camera battery is almost out and I want the decals and stickers to settle into the plastic first. Don't want them to fall off so easily (besides being a little lazy and tired after hours of decal-ing and sticker-ing).

As for this special part of the review, I'll mostly tell you my experience and feelings towards the water slide decals and clear stickers as well as the 4 angle and close-up shots.

So, read on! =D

TT Hongli MG 1/100 Strike Noir Review - Part 1

*This is the lowest price you should be able to get it for in M'sia. Normal shop price will get as high as somewhere around RM80.

I bought this one at the same time when I bought the TT Hongli PG WZC last month at Chow Kit. It was the only MG they had there and luckily, I wanted it. Looking at the box itself, I noticed that this is TT Hongli's first MG.

GAT-X105E - Strike Noir (Gundam)
Pilot: Sven Cal Bayan
Height: 17.72m
Weight: 90.51t

About the Gundam:
Strike Noir is an upgraded Strike, improving various functions from its predecessor. Its piloted by a natural, Sven Cal Bayan in the SEED OVA SEED C.E. 73 Stargazer. Read the manual scans (if you dare) for further information. =)

Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners, Manual Scans & Building
Part 1.5: Clear Stickers & Decals
Part 2: Articulation, Gimmicks, Action and Conclusion

Read on for the box, box open, runners, manual scans and building process.

EDIT (30/01/10): Added some more detailed explanations.
EDIT (02/02/10): Wrong body part name for elaboration on the legs... knee guards, not the ankle guards. ^^;

MG 1/100 Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd Revise Review - Part 2

ImageThis is a continuation of the part 1 here!

Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners & Building Process

Part 2: Height Comparisons, Articulation, Gimmicks, Action & Conclusion
Part 3: Additional Review - MG VS NG, Backpack Adapter (First Batch Item)

Phew, the photoshoot took quite a while to do as the sword really isn't that easy to pose with. This part of the review will have a ton of photos at a total of 109. O.o
Some of them are close-up shots, which caused the number to rise up but I felt like those shots should be in, so I didn't push them away for this review in the end. At any rate, prepare your scrolling fingers!

There are also some additional content in the following review, especially near the bottom, so please watch out for it! So, continue on reading~

Note: Some photos were taken using natural sunlight in the afternoon, so I hope they look okay for you all. ^^;

MG 1/100 Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd Revise Review - Part 1

ImagePrice: 4800Yen(!)

Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners & Building Process
Part 2: Height Comparisons, Articulation, Gimmicks, Action & Conclusion
Part 3: Additional Review - MG VS NG, Backpack Adapter (First Batch Item)

Okay, since I just finished building the Blue Frame yesterday until the big arse sword, I'll post up part 1 now which consists of shots of the runners and building process. I haven't built the action base for the sword yet but I'll put that in this part later on. I also haven't exploited the extra backpack adapters yet but I think I'll dedicate part 3 for that.

I don't really know the Gundam SEED VS Astray side-story so I can't say much about this MS story-wise. At any rate, its one of the many variations(and latest) of the Blue Frame which is piloted by Gai Murakamo of Serpent Tail.

MBF-P03R Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second Revise
Pilot: Gai Murakamo
Guild: Serpent Tail
Height: 18.32m

Armaments: Tactical Arms II, Armor Schneider(4?)

MG 1/100 Gundam Exia "Ignition Mode" Review - Part 3 - Finale (Repair Mode)

ImageFirst of all, I like to thank the comments for part 2 as it made me quite happy to read them. I truly appreciate your compliments and it really is nice to know that I can take good photos of my favorite Gundam. ^^

Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners, Building Process & Some Gimmicks
Part 2: Articulation, Action, Gimmicks & Comparisons
Part 3: Gundam Exia Repair & Conclusion

At any rate, this last part of the review is fairly short as I found out there aren't that many poses for the Exia Repair to snap.

Read on for Exia Repair and my final conclusion which hopefully will give you a more in-depth opinion on the MG Exia than my early conclusion in part 2.

Read on for part 2 of the review! There's also an early conclusion since I'll only be able to review the "Repair Mode" by the end of this week by the earliest as I have to prioritize on my assignments after I'm down with this. =/

MG 1/100 Gundam Exia "Ignition Mode" Review - Part 1

Part 1: Box, Box Open, Runners, Building Process & Some Gimmicks
Part 2: Articulation, Action, Gimmicks & Comparisons
Part 3: Gundam Exia Repair & Conclusion
