Thaipusam Parade - 2012 Feb 5


Happy Thaipusam to all Tamil community in Malaysia. 
Happy Holiday-ing to all Malaysians too. 

Yesterday when i get to know there's Thaipusam parade, Im immediately knowing that i'm going to join the parade as part of my HK100 training. 
It's Thaipusam run ! hehe... 
I'm running from my house @ Setapak to Jln Tun H. S. Lee which is about 7KM away.

Petaling Street ! By the time i'm arrived, it's about 11pm...

A lot of people waiting... waiting... curious kill the cat. 
So i exploring the front area... the crowd are so packed!

Everyone is raising their hand with camera! I'm also! The music suddenly being played! Everyone get excited.

In the video, Lord Murugon is being lifted up and transferred into chariot accompany by music. Shortly after that the parade begins.

Hehe... Wonder would i able get the chance to see what's their final photo? haha 

The journey from Jln Tun H S Lee to Batu Caves is about 15KM. Everywhere full with people along the 15KM. 
I joint so many running races in Malaysia, there's never got this much. Even the Singapore marathon crowd also can not beat this...

Crossing MRR2. There's no police or whoever controlling the traffic. But human crowd scared the drivers. Drivers automatic stop to let others crossing.

It's about 3am plus to 4am, cant recall, so many people....

What's surprised me. WHY THIS POLITICS thingy is here. People pray tribute to Lord Murugon.

I'm begin my 272 Steps climb too! Although walked about 15KM, I'm still feel fresh going up...

Inside the Batu Caves. It's was 4am in the morning, the crowd should be consider less if comparing today or tomorrow.

Enjoy the spacious available while i'm there. Come today or tomorrow, there's wont be space for you to walk leisurely...

From Batu Caves back to my Setapak house, my google map show it's about 10KM. Another 10KM to run back home. 

When back at home, it's about 5:40am about a good 8 hours run-walk-run...

冬至 - 汤圆 (Tang Yuan)

  吃汤圆也是冬至的传统习俗,在江南尤为盛行。“汤圆”是冬至必备的食品,是一种用糯米粉制成的圆形甜品,“圆”意味着“团圆”“圆满”,冬至吃汤圆,象征家庭和谐、吉祥,故冬至吃汤圆又叫“冬至团”。民间有“吃了汤圆大一岁”之说。陈志岁《汤圆》诗:“颗颗圆圆想龙眼,耋龆爱吃要功夫。拌云漫舀银缸水,抟雪轻摩玉掌肤。推入汤锅驱白鸭,捞来糖碗滚黄珠。年年冬至家家煮,一岁潜添晓得无?”冬至团可以用来祭祖,也可用于互赠亲朋。旧时上海人最讲究吃汤团。古人有诗云:“家家捣米做汤圆,知是明朝冬至天。”
  冬节甜丸一般在天亮前煮熟,家人起床后,都要吃一碗“冬节丸”,潮汕有“冬节丸,一食就过年”的民谚,俗称“添岁”,表示年虽还没有过,但大家已加了一岁。孩子们最盼吃这碗甜丸,往往夜里醒来都要问天亮了吗?然而天好像要与孩子们开玩笑似的,老是不亮,故潮俗有“冬节夜,啰啰长,甜丸未煮天唔光”的童谣。其实,每年到了冬至这一天,夜的时间最长,冬至过后,才逐渐变短。昔时潮汕城乡在冬至日还有以甜糯米丸拜“司令公”,备三牲祭祖和扫墓的习俗,冬至扫墓叫“过冬纸”。人去世未满三年,后代扫墓应在清明节“过春纸”,以后才“过冬纸”。冬至扫墓,因为冬天少雨,阳光充足,在山野举行祭祖较为方便,也借此郊游,起娱乐身心作用。
