When Qantas first opened it's "Kangaroo Route" - flights between Australia and the United Kingdom - in December 1947 it took four days and nine stops to complete the journey.
In March 2018, with new non-stop flights from London to Perth, it will take just 17 hours to fly the 14,498 kilometers.
The Perth to London route will be the first regular passenger service to directly link Australia and Europe, using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. When it launches, it is expected to be the third-longest passenger flight in the world and the longest Boeing Dreamliner flight in the world.

If you want to be able to leave your car to greet someone at arrivals, London Luton Airport is easily the most expensive for pick-ups – the minimum charge is a staggering £7 for up to 40 minutes. If you’re happy staying in your car, you can opt for another car park but it is still the most expensive per minute, with a charge of £3 for a mere ten minutes, and £1 a minute after that.
Luton is followed by Birmingham when it comes to pricey pick-ups, where it costs £4.70 to park up for up to 60 minutes, with no option to park more cheaply for a shorter period. The parking close to Stansted Airport’s terminal costs £4.50 for 30 minutes, while Edinburgh Airport charges £3.90 for just 15 minutes, equivalent to £0.26 per minute, more than the price of a mobile phone call from Europe back to the UK. London Heathrow charges £3.60 for 30 minutes’ parking.

Monarch announced yesterday the addition of three new destinations to its network starting 28 April 2017: Stockholm, Porto and Zagreb.
The city of Porto is a year round popular destination and will be the fourth Portuguese destination on the Monarch network. Porto joins Lisbon, which was introduced last summer, Faro and Funchal. Renowned for its port wine and architecture, the coastal city of Porto sits in the northwest of the country.
The Swedish capital of Stockholm is a vibrant city made up of 14 islands all walkable thanks to the extensive network of bridges the city has to offer. Stockholm is a great city for exploring – with a variety or shops, cafes and museums there is something for everyone.
Croatian capital Zagreb has been growing in popularity over the last few years and with its gothic themes and colourful architecture, making it an ideal city break.
