ABC Wednesday - T is for Terrific!!

I am "in love" with this Terrifically Beautiful Oak Leafed Hydrangea!  

It is still a "baby," but

this is what it looks like today!

This is 'Munchkin'

He is deciduous, thrives in zones 5 - 9, grows from 3-4.5 feet tall and wide, blooms in June-July, the blossom is "aging white" to pink, the light requirements are full sun to part shade.  And check out the fall leaf color!!

R - Rejuvenation!

Mrs. Nesbitt's post on Renovation spurred my post on Rejuvenation!

Our screened in porch had become a storage room... for bikes, flower pots, etc., etc.  But we have such a peaceful, wooded backyard, I wanted to be able to use it again (during the warmer months of the year)!

So, Rejuvenation looks like this:

First coat on the ceiling:

Beginning the first coat on the walls

Painting the walls continues

Finished!  Tah! Dah!  (yes, still working on organization)

Second coat on ceiling finished.  Second coat on walls will happen next spring.

Rejuvenation is good for adults, too!  :-)

ABC Wednesday - H

Honestly!  This is one of my favorite shrubs.  There are many varieties of Hydrangeas. The following has been in my yard for a number of years.  I chose it for the very reason that it is somewhat unusual.  (Another is 'Pinky Winky' that does virtually the same thing, except the flowers have a completely different appearance - conical shaped!)

The following two shrubs are Hydrangea paniculata:

ABC Wednesday - G is Grosbeak

We recently vacationed for a few days with both "our families!"  This would be our daughter and son-in-law and their children and our son and daughter-in-law and their children.  All-in-all, there were twelve of us... and did we have GREAT fun!

We stayed in a wonderful (modern) "log cabin" in the woods.  There were birds all around, with bird feeders hanging from the main floor deck.  We saw our "usual" black-capped chickadees, nuthatches, goldfinches, (flocks of?) ruby throated hummingbirds, Baltimore Orioles, and Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, etc.

Imagine my surprise, when the first birds I spotted and photographed were the birds below!!  "What?" I wondered.

Guess what!  These are immature male Rose Breasted Grosbeaks!!  (The first clue that they were Grosbeaks was their bills.  Take a Gander!)

This is also an immature male Rose Breasted Grosbeak ... further along in his development.  I also was able to take this photo.

ABC Wednesday - F is for Felicificative!

Do you love it?  The word itself.   Just figuring out how to say it made me happy!  So, there's the definition:  Tending to make happy.  (I found this word online in a list of obscure, little-used words.)

Felicificative:  It tends to make me happy when I think of something to write about for this Meme.

Felicificative:  It tends to make me happy when everything works together in a timely fashion (i.e., our bathroom remodel.  It is nearly finished!)

Felicificative:  It tends to make me happy when I labor a bit from time-to-time towards a certain goal and I see progress as I work!

 

Felicificative:  It tends to make me happy when other "interested" people join me in the occasional maintenance of a local community garden!

Felicificative:  It tends to make me happy when some of you visit my post and leave a comment!  (Thanks!)

And perhaps now YOU feel Felicificative in seeing this post conclude!  lol

ABC Wednesday - C for Clouds!

A recent 9-mile drive home resulted in the following cloud "documentary!"  I thought the clouds were amazing... and even more amazing was the fact that the whole episode lasted 19 minutes!

Whew!  A return to Cumulus!
