A new craft!

So for Christmas my mom gave me a sewing machine, and said we needed to take some classes to learn to sew. Honestly, I took the 1 term long vocational core sewing class that was required in Jr. High, and that was the extent of my sewing experience. My Gma has repeatedly told me that she would teach me, but have just never done it. So I decided that now that I have a sewing machine of my own, I ought to put it to good use!

My mom and I went to a few quilting stores and picked up some patterns and fabric, and I pretty much just jumped right in having no clue exactly what I was doing. But by the end of the night I had made these cute little receiving blankets!ImageIt was amazing how fast sewing comes back to you when you just try! These blankets are super easy and I think a good start to my new sewing adventures! Next I'm going to attempt an apron, so we'll see how that goes!

Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera!

Wow, I can't believe my vacation has come and gone already! I could definitely use another week in Mexico! We had a great time this past week with Billy's family! We spent the week cruising in sunny Mexico!

Our vacation started with a drive to Primm, NV. We all rode the crazy roller coaster at Buffalo Bills, which was pretty nerve-wracking...I'm not a big roller coaster fan! Billy said I was pretty much pale white throughout the entire ride :) The next morning we hit the road to Los Angeles to get on the Ship. We left out of Berth 93 at the Port of Los Angeles, which just so happens to be the same port that the ship from the show The Love Boat leaves out of! (I actually didn't know that until the showed episodes of the show continuously throughout the entire cruise!)
ImageAfter the first day at sea when it was somewhat cold, we had a beautifully sunny second sea day where we all managed to get a nice tan!
ImageHowever, like usual, Billy just got a wicked sunburn, including some awesome raccoon eyes! That night just so happened to be formal night so we snapped some pics!

ImageImageImageFirst port of call was Puerto Vallarta. This day just so happened to be my Birthday! I woke up to ballons on my stateroom door, a sweet card and gift from the family, and the SUNSHINE! (Which was one of the greatest b-day gifts ever!) We spent the day shopping and bartering (something I love doing!) and then had lunch at Senor Frogs. We also got to spend some time at the beach, but the water was freezing and the waves were huge so we just dipped our feet.

Second port was Mazatlan. We drove into town and did a little shopping and spent the remainder of the day tanning on the beach, and eating yummy chicken nachos! It amazes me all of the vendors that hang out on the beach trying to sell you everything and anything...Almost free for you!ImageImageLast port was Cabo San Lucas. It is so beautiful there and I can't wait to go back! We went whale watching, but unfortunately didn't see any whales while we were in the small boat in the middle of the ocean (a little scary) However, we did see dolphins, sea lions and little Dora fishies! After that Billy and I went into town and just did some sight seeing. We had to be back to the ship by 1:00 so we got back around 12:30 and did a little more whale watching from the ship, and this time we were lucky enough to see some, except we didn't have our camera! There were also several dolphins that were getting their kicks from the waves our ship was creating, It was pretty amazing!

Because our last sea day was rather cold and cloudy, we spent it relaxing, vegging out and watching movies in our stateroom! It was a much needed day of relaxation!

There were so many wonderful and exciting things that we did on this vacation, and it was such a great time! I am so grateful for Billy's parents for including us in this great vacation, and hope to go again soon!
