AI Policy

TLDR: We are not vibe coding. The software we publish is not AI generated.

With the rise of AI generated apps and everyone talking about AI, we would like to make a few things clear.

People who work at Great Software Company are humans. We don’t use AI agents, agentic workflows or whatever are the current fancy terms for using autonomous AI in software development.

We are classicists. We believe in craftsmanship and human skill. We believe that the best way to create great software is through human ingenuity, creativity, skill, and experience.

However, being a classicist does not mean being a luddite. We use AI tools but as tools within very specific and very limited use cases, not as replacements for human skill.

Using a quill pen to write a book is not inherently better than using a keyboard to write one. A keyboard is a tool, not the author. Similarly, for us, AI is also just a tool.

For example, we use AI as a debugging tool. We can ask AI to analyze our product source code to see if it can detect and pinpoint any bugs from the code. We then review those findings and fix any real bugs that it found. AI is not used to fix bugs or add new features or create new functionality to the software.

We also use generative AI tools to generate unit testing code. Unit testing means automated quality control where the software basically tests itself to ensure it is working correctly. This testing code is not included in the final products or published to the end users as the official version.

These are examples of how we use AI as a tool to make our software better, not worse.

On our websites and especially the blogs that we publish, we can use AI to suggest ideas, outlines, grammar checking, and to generate initial drafts. But every piece of content that is published by Great Software Company is always reviewed and edited by humans before publication.

The bottom line is this: Every single decision about what lines of code exist in our software or what words are in our websites is made by humans.
