Is OpinionCamp free?
Yes. OpinionCamp is free on WordPress.org. There is no cap on how many responses you can collect, no limit on how many polls you can create, and no OpinionCamp branding attached to your polls.
Where does OpinionCamp store poll votes?
In your own WordPress database, on your own server. Votes never leave your site. There is no third-party service holding your results and no vendor terms governing your data.
Does OpinionCamp collect personal data from voters?
No. OpinionCamp does not store IP addresses, names, email addresses, or any other identifying information. Votes are recorded as anonymous counts in your own WordPress database. If you turn on “Allow only one vote per device”, the plugin sets a single cookie in the visitor’s browser that records nothing except the fact that they have already voted. No data is sent anywhere else, because there is no third party involved.
Do I need an account or an API key?
No. You install the plugin and add the block. Hosted poll services like Crowdsignal and Opinion Stage require you to create an account, build the poll in their dashboard, and paste an embed code back into your post. OpinionCamp skips all of that.
Does OpinionCamp work with the Classic Editor?
No. OpinionCamp is built as a native block for the WordPress block editor, so you need Gutenberg to create and place a poll. If your site still runs the Classic Editor, an older shortcode-based plugin will suit you better.
Can visitors vote more than once?
That depends on one setting. By default, yes. Turn on “Allow only one vote per device” in the block settings and OpinionCamp saves a cookie after someone votes, so that browser sees the results instead of the voting form on their next visit. Because the check is cookie-based, someone who clears their cookies or opens a private window can vote again. For audience polls that is usually fine. If you need an exact count from verified individuals, a poll is the wrong tool for the job.
Does OpinionCamp work with caching plugins?
Yes. Votes are recorded through WordPress rather than through the cached page, so polls keep working on cached sites. On very aggressive cache setups you may want to exclude the results from caching so the counts stay current.
Will OpinionCamp slow down my site?
No. The poll is rendered by your own site as ordinary block output. There are no external requests, no third-party scripts, and no iframe. That is a real difference from hosted poll services, which load a script from their servers on every page view.
Can I style the poll to match my theme?
Yes. Styling is handled through the block editor controls, and the poll picks up your theme’s fonts and colours by default. No custom CSS and no coding required.
What is the difference between OpinionCamp and a form plugin?
A form plugin collects private submissions that only you see. A poll shows the running results back to the reader, which is what drives people to participate in the first place.
