Our Mission
Founded in the fall of 2024, the Center for Advancing Responsible Computing at Georgia Tech aims to advance and support the development of computing woven into the fabric of our everyday lives, designed to be trustworthy, sustainable, and socially responsible–aware of the needs, constraints, and crises of the modern world. To achieve its vision, the center applies fundamental computing advances towards advancing responsible (trustworthy, sustainable, equitable, resource-efficient) computing solutions to real-world problems across healthcare, environmental sustainability, and robotics. Our work now also spans AI policy, Indigenous and community-grounded computing, and computing education. We aim to connect researchers across the college (and beyond) to envision a more just and responsible future for this next decade of AI and computing.

We hosted another successful Summit on Responsible Computing, AI, and Society — and the 2026 Summit returns to Atlanta December 7–8, 2026!
Center Director Josiah Hester closed Rhizome’s 7×7 2026 at the New Museum, envisioning AI for Indigenous language preservation!
We delivered the keynote at Eahou Fest 2026 in Honolulu and joined the Eahou Global Resilience Cohort with Purple Maiʻa!
Celine Lin won the ACM SIGDA Outstanding New Faculty Award at DAC 2026!
We released a policy brief and op-eds supporting responsible data center development in Georgia, led by faculty affiliate Dr. Ahmed Saeed!
