Vols getting closer to opening the season with their first true freshman QB since Brent Schaeffer in 2004. Schaeffer was the first true freshman right out of high school to start at QB in the SEC since freshman eligibility was reinstated in 1973. So some heady stuff for Brandon.

Best thing to happen to Russell was to be pushed in camp and earn it. He was the more explosive player with the ability to create and make big plays going back to the spring. He only solidified his position this preseason. Big future ahead for him.

They're piling up, these "fallback plans" of players in NFL camps. Going to find out pretty quickly if the SEC's ban on transferring to a school within the conference after the winter portal closes is still a thing. Greg Sankey has made it clear where he stands. Good times.
