    Lanterns is a perfectly crafted mystery supercharged by sci-fi forces. Every episode has you guessing what's next, but what stands out is the characters. Hal and John are deeply layered and well written. The best DCU project so far, and it's not close. Full review below 🧵

    In case you haven't noticed, DC Studios has a very specific strategy for making TV Shows: • Hire award winning talent with a proven track record • Be directly inspired by existing genre shows (True Detective, American Vandal) • Apply that structure to a DC Universe character

    Lanterns was the first real test of whether a big live-action DCU series can perform on HBO, because Peacemaker S2 was a sequel and Creature Commandos was animated. I’d expect this success will give HBO the confidence to greenlight more DCU shows now.
